Tupperware 13 Piece Servalier Bowl Set Review

Tupperware 13 Piece Servalier Bowl Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My mother-in-law has had her Tupperware brand food storage containers for over 35 years. Throughout this time, Tupperware survived 3 kids and a lifetime of use and abuse (I am sure). She STILL uses them every day and I am amazed at how sturdy they are and how the lids still provide an air tight seal. This is WONDER PLASTIC. They just don't make them like this anymore. I don't know about you, but this is all the proof I needed to make the investment. I could not wait to purchase my own and had been looking for a set like this for a while. Since my Tupperware purchase, I have thrown out the old ones from the other so called "reputable" companies, which just don't last. I can finally stop wasting money buying from here and there. Although Tupperware makes microwaveable pieces, this set is not. This set is mostly for food storage in your refrigerator and or freezer. This does not bother me in the least for I prefer to heat my food in microwaveable plates, not plastic. I just feel safer this way. And yes, they are dishwasher safe.
1/8/11
I STILL love my Tupperware! Absolutely no issues almost 2 years later, not even food stains. I couldn't have said this about any other plastic storage brand. I'm sooo happy I made the investment. And my mother-in-law STILL uses her (almost) 40 year old Tupperware. I saw her use her favorite yellow Tupperware bowl this past Xmas (2010) to mix cookie dough. I swear, this stuff is amazing! Like roaches, Tupperware will clearly survive the next Apocalypse!

NEWELL RUBBERMAID HOME FG7J94VPCHILI "SERVIN SAVER PLUS" DURABLE FOOD CONTAINER Review

NEWELL RUBBERMAID HOME FG7J94VPCHILI SERVIN SAVER PLUS DURABLE FOOD CONTAINER
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The picture in this offering shows a great product. These little round containers are the perfect size for storing food portions in a convenient size, 1 cup plus a little room for expansion in the freezer. This item is supposed to be 3-pack of these 1.1 cup containers.
The problem with this item is that you get something else. I got a couple of 1.25 cup containers and a 2 cup container! And instead of being round, they are square. If I wanted 2 cup containers I would have ordered 2 cup containers! If I wanted square containers I would have ordered square containers!
I am just so sick of sellers substituting different products for the ones they offer and the ones I order! Without prior notification or permission! It seems to be the thing to do nowadays.

Pyrex No Leak Lids 6-Pc Storage Set Review

Pyrex No Leak Lids 6-Pc Storage Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like many people these days I was looking to replace my old, barely-functioning plastic storage containers and upgrade to glass for health reasons. In my quest for the best product I bought and ultimately returned Snapware Glasslock, Kinetic Glasslock, and Anchor Hocking TrueSeal. The Anchor Hocking TrueSeal leaked like a sieve so that was an immediate no. The Snapware Glasslock and Kinetic Glasslock both were leakproof, but I decided against them because I like the look of Pyrex No Leak better, and it has additional benefits such as a microwaveable lid and oven proof glass.
What I love about Pyrex No Leak: First and foremost it is 100% leakproof. I was a little worried about buying Pyrex because their Basic Glass Containers (blue lids) and Glass Lids Containers (red lids) are definitely not leakproof. I tested the Pyrex No Leak out of the box by filling them with water and shaking them upside down, not one drop came out. Yesterday, I packed soup for lunch and my lunch bag turned upside down in the car. The No Leak performed great and not a drop was spilled. The round and rectangular shapes are equally waterproof.
Next I feel that Pyrex No Leak has the best overall features of any glass containers on the market. The lids are BPA-free, and the containers are freezer, microwave, and dishwasher (top rack) safe. While these features are pretty standard, Pyrex No Leak containers are also oven-safe (glass containers only) and the lids are microwaveable. All the competing lids must be removed for microwave use, and while I am trying to get away from using plastic, the reality is there are times when I don't have or don't want to use a paper towel and isn't it nice that I can simply use the lid if I want? Also the clean up is easy. To wash in the dishwasher I remove the inner rubber seal from the lid and place the seal, lid, and container in the top rack. I haven't had any issues with the lid warping or the glass containers breaking or anything like that. I've also washed the containers by hand and that is quick and easy as well.
Finally, the Pyrex No Leak containers look fantastic. The grey lids are a nice neutral color that will go with any decor. At first I was looking for clear lids. I have a few Rubbermaid Stainshield containers and I love being able to see the food through the top of the container. So I thought I would love the locking lids from Snapware and Kinetic. My personal feeling is that, sitting atop a clear glass container, the clear plastic lids look cloudy by comparison. Also I really like that the No Leak lids are traditionally styled (no lock down tabs on the sides). It looks very streamlined and modern.
Overall I am very happy with my Pyrex No Leak containers and I've ordered a bunch more. My only complaints are the following: The glass containers are hot to the touch after microwaving. This will of course be true of any glass containers, not just these. Pyrex, if you are listening I would love to see you offer a removable rubber sleeve that can go over the glass containers for microwave use (much like the cardboard sleeves that coffee shops use). Of course if I'm at home I can just use an oven mitt to remove the container, but the rubber sleeve would be great for work and travel. Another disappointment was actually the microwave vent in the lid. With my old plastic containers I would just loosen the lid and place it on top to microwave. Pyrex No Leak has a specially designed vent, and I excited to try this new feature. I reheated split pea soup in the microwave with the lid on and the microwave vent opened and after 1:30 I had split pea explosion all over the microwave. I reheated the same soup, but this time left the microwave vent closed and placed the lid loosely on top, and it heated beautifully, no mess. So I'm still giving the product five stars because it works great using the alternate method. As a side note, I was initially worried that Pyrex No Leak containers do not nest. You must put the lids on and stack them for storage. I have a LOT of containers, but this has not been an issue for me. Glass containers are going to take up more space than plastic anyway so I don't think you save too much room by having containers that nest.
I currently own the 2-cup round, 4-cup round, 3-cup rectangular, and 6-cup rectangular containers. I have since ordered more of these plus the 7-cup round and 11-cup rectangular. I wish they offered a 1 cup size, but they do not. The 2, 3, and 4-cup sizes are great for lunches. I'm looking forward to getting the 7-cup and 11-cup for large batches of leftovers.

Ok normally I would buy a bag of lettuce and after about a week it was bad because I couldn't eat it all in one week. I like one or two salads a week not salad everyday and a single person doesn't eat a whole bag unless they eat it daily. Well I bought a bag of lettuce that was almost one week old when this set arrived, I put it in there and I've almost finished the lettuce but as of today my lettuce is 3 weeks old and just as green and fresh looking as it was when I bought it from the store, and the taste is of course still great.

Fresh Vac 6-pc. Rectangle Container Set with Crisper Review

Fresh Vac 6-pc. Rectangle Container Set with Crisper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I wanted to start eating healthier, and since Summer is approaching, I decided to see what works the best as far as preserving fruits and vegetables, so I bought this Fresh Vac set. It's only me, and so it's hard to buy alot of fruits and vegetables for just one person, before they would go bad. So far, I've used my set for strawberries, salad mixes and tomatoes, and kiwis, and some frozen raspberries and blackberries. The larger ones are my favorite, as they hold more, and seem to keep the air out better. The small one I seem to have to keep pushing down on the lid, so that the seal goes down. It has worked great for strawberries and tomatoes, and does keep them fresher for alot longer. The salad mix, it is still hard to keep that fresh for too much longer than the expiration date. I don't wash anything before I put them in the Fresh Vac, which not adding any extra moisture seems to work better too. I like the Fresh Vac so much I just ordered the bowl set. I hope the company keeps making more options! I know I have had alot less waste with my fruits and vegetables since buying this product! It does work!! I wash them by hand, and don't put them in the microwave. I really just bought them for storage in my refrigerator, and at the price I want them to last. They don't seem to stain either, even with strawberries, raspberries and blackberries, which is also nice, as most plastic containers do stain.

CorningWare French White 5-Piece Serving Bake and Serve Set Review

CorningWare French White 5-Piece Serving Bake and Serve Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Your mother's" Corningware was not this stuff. This is only stoneware from China.
The original "French White" Corningware was made of Corning's famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.
When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides (and Amazon reviewers), into thinking the stoneware "French White" was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available to their mothers and sisters.
The pattern is very attractive and can be used with any decor, and they do offer many sizes, but this stuff is not, repeat, really not, what people mean when they say "Corningware." You want to be aware of what you are getting if you are thinking of purchasing it.
Le Creuset can do most of the above mentioned, but it being metal you cannot use it in the microwave. Stoneware cannot go on top of the stove, and repeated trips from the freezer to the oven will eventually cause it to craze and crack. And stoneware will also chip, and break if dropped, etc. Pyrex glassware cannot go on the gas stove although you can take it from the freezer to the oven, and also microwave it.
The only product which could do anything was pyroceramic, and World Kitchens has chosen to remove it from the market because it is "too good."
They have recently brought back a few of the old square shapes, with the Cornflower, or plain white, calling it "vintage," but the French White shape is not making a reappearance yet. If you want it, email them and ask for it!
Meanwhile, get Le Creuset for stovetop cooking and roasting (yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and cooks beautifully), and reheat things in Pyrex in the microwave.

EXCELLENT! Product arrived quickly and far exceeded expectations! I already own the smaller green version of this Bento box Large Lunch box Bento box 2 Tier SQ GRN !. I adore it and have used it repeatedly for gatherings with family and friends. I was excited to find it again in another color. When it arrived, I was thrilled to see it was a little bit larger! I will be able to fill this with so many goodies that I fear I may be the only one asked to bring food to any gathering now! One more note: these boxes are great for car travel, and are easy to clean. Very Eco-Friendly! Lucca, you have a wonderful product! Thank you!

Ball 82000 8-Ounce Plastic Freezer Storage Containers, 30-Pack Review

Ball 82000 8-Ounce Plastic Freezer Storage Containers, 30-Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These are BPA free, in case anyone was wondering. I looked on the Ball website before ordering, and it also confirmed it on the packaging. They should mention this in the description!
Anyway, I use these for just about everything. I bought a 30 pack, and just came back for more! I do a lot in bulk, and freeze small portions of pizza sauce, soup, etc. My recent discovery of homemade yogurt has been my biggest excitement for these little jars!
My kids love, LOVE fruit on the bottom yogurt. I hate all the sugar added. I started making my own yogurt, using my crockpot (just google crockpot homemade yogurt, it is super-easy!) and fresh or frozen fruit on the bottom, and the kids get SOOOO excited picking out their own individual container. They are easy enough for my kindergartener to remove the lid at lunch, but the seal is solid. Did I mention I am saving a small fortune on these individual yogurts, now that I can reuse these containers?
Back to these little containers though. The ones I already have are going strong after over a year of use. No leaking, stack perfectly, and they clean up beautifully in the dishwasher. For plastic, they are durable! I did break one when I dropped it on concrete while it had frozen soup, but that is the only one that has been damaged. These are a great value! I highly recommend them, and may be back for more if I find that 60 is not enough. : )

PREMIER 9 CUP** Review

PREMIER 9 CUP**
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm only giving these 2 stars (I thought about 3 stars) but the reason is because of how Rubbermaid completely RUINED the awesome (5 star) Stain Shield line they had before this travesty came along. I hate to say it, but if you're looking for good plastic containers, these are probably the best ones out there at the moment (because of the Stain Shield technology), but only if you can get over the absolutely horrendous lid design. In my opinion, the Stain Shield containers that these replaced were superior in so many ways. Redesigning the lid to be fancy just ruined the line, so if you're Rubbermaid, how about bring back the old Coke formula?
Problem #1
Sure, the lids flex more than the old ones, but it comes at BIG price of being very, very difficult to clean when the old model was SO EASY! That gray part really is rubber and scouring pads don't do well in cleaning rubber; it just sticks. Go throw some soap suds on your car tires and see how easy it is to clean with a kitchen scrubber, now clean your car windows with the same scrubber. That's the difference between the old line and this one. It's like trying to scrub off the residue that an adhesive label leaves behind. Don't get me started on the deep grooves in the lid that you're never going to get into to clean either. It boggles my mind how they thought this improvement was sanitary.
Problem #2
The lids are recessed and go BELOW the surface of the lip when fully seated - at least a quarter inch if not more! So no longer can you fill up the bowl to it's capacity like before. Also, there's no line that tells you were that limit is so it's sort of a guessing game. Did you put too much soup in the container? Well, the only way to know for sure is to set the lid on and see if you get soup being pushed out the sides when you press the lid on. So yeah, before you didn't get anything on the lid and it was easy to clean; now you get a ton of stuff on the lid and it's really hard to clean. What were you thinking Rubbermaid? Terrible design, just terrible. The old model didn't do this and sat flush, if not just a little above the top of the container.
Problem #3
If you stack 2 containers on top of each other with their lids on, you have to lift the container up out of a depression from the lid it's sitting on top of, you can't slide it out. That's hard to explain, but if you look at the picture you can probably get the idea. Again, the previous model had a completely flat top, which meant that when they were in the fridge, you could slide them out easily. That may not seem like a big deal when it's in the cupboard, but when it's in a packed fridge with other containers, it just gets annoying. Another terrible design "improvement". Although I will say that some folks will probably like this feature since it keeps the containers stacked more neatly and are less prone to sliding off of each other. This is not a problem in my house.
Problem #4
There's more rubber on the lid which means you can't see inside the container as well as before because the viewing area is cut down. Additionally, if you look closely at the picture, you'll see that the center of the lid is a smokey shade and not 100% transparent, making it even more difficult to see what's inside since less light is getting in (blocked by more rubber and the lid tint). When you put on the lid you have to make some small adjustments when lining it up and then once it's lined up, you can push the lid down and "burp" it.
Problem #5
The previous model let you microwave something with the lid cracked on the container, flip the lid over when it was done microwaving, and set the hot container on it and walk away. Voila! An easy-to-walk-away-with a hot container! It was like having a built-in pot holder. Those days are over with this lid.
The Good #1
The bottom part of the containers didn't change much, just a little curvier but still 100% functional; no complaints there at all. The stain-shield technology is just amazing and in the 5+ years I've been using them, not one stain! That part is huge for me since I store and microwave a lot of tomato-based items. Also, they do not retain odors, so that's another HUGE plus for this garlic lover.
The Good #2
You can microwave and freeze these containers a thousand times and not have any worries. They can take pretty much anything you can throw at them.
If you don't know if you should get the round or square sizes, I have both the round and square containers and find the square to be much easier when it comes to storage. It's a much more efficient use of space in the refrigerator.
The ones that have the red rubber instead of the gray/black are BPA-free.
All-in-all, the lid "improvements" they made to this line have completely ruined it in my opinion. If you haven't used their old line before, you'll probably love these and won't have all the issues I have with them. I'm always on the lookout for remnants of their old line, but to no avail; I can't find them anywhere. I need to buy more containers, but in the meantime, I'm hoping for a better design to come out, either Rubbermaid or someone else.

The quality of the dishes in this Anchor Hocking set is reasonably close to the Pyrex set that I also have, but the carrier itself is much better in the Pyrex set. The Pyrex carrier is sturdier and has more insulation, and the Anchor Hocking carrier is already cracking a bit in places after being used only a couple of times.

Researched these, and found several reviews saying how well these work over the ones advertised on T.V. Well after having them for bout a year and using them they do not work for air tight storage. They do work for a temporary cover while waiting to eat but don't expect them to keep a seal on any type bowl, not glass plastic or steel. So the magic is in how they advertise them and not in how they actually work. If you are looking for a quick cover great ;but these are not for airtight storage!!

Kinetic Go Green Glass Lock 10 Piece Set Review

Kinetic Go Green Glass Lock 10 Piece Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So glad I ponied up the money to switch to glass. LOVE these. I learned that, over time, microwaving plastic breaks down the material and causes chemicals leech into food stored in plastic containers. Yikes. I make alot of tomato based foods and my plastic storage containers were forever turning orange anyway. These clean up great in the dishwasher, but be careful with the lids. If you warp them it's nearly impossible to get all 4 snaps to close. I killed my first container because I didn't read the directions and microwaved something without opening the snaps. I've been using these for a year and the rest of my heavily used set still looks brand new. They are really durable and, even when I've dropped a full one, the container didn't leak or break. There's a rubber gasket inside the lid that really seals the containers tight. These should be easy to open and close as long as you don't warp the lids.
For what it's worth, here's how I've cared for mine to keep the lids from warping:
I wash the glass portion on the bottom rack and my lids on the top rack of the dishwasher. I do not use heated dry.
Even though the manufacturer states that the lids can be microwaved as long as they aren't snapped in place, I never microwave the lids. I use a paper towel instead.
I store mine with the lids snapped on. I don't know if that actually helps with the warping or not, but it helps me find a complete container when I need one.
