(More customer reviews)When I first got the package from Lucca, I was disappointed at the size as I had expected it to be bigger. When I opened it, I immediately fell in love with it. It is just so cute, the size,the froggy sketch and all. Although it is small, but the size is just right to store my rice and two dishes, one meat and a veg. It's helping me lose weight too because of the portion control! Not to mention the compliments I get from my friends for this cute little bento box.

It was here early im soo happy!! :) Its still in its origional packaging, no issues, absolutley nothing wrong! this was my fisrt time using amazon (or any online store) and if i were to buy again i would definitly use this, preferably Lucca! I love my bento box more now that i have it then when i saw it online! I am TOTALLY satisfied!! Thank you Lucca!!

(More customer reviews)I've been using this for my kids' "hot lunch" for 2 years. The food does not come out "piping hot", but who wants to burn your kid's mouth? We put everying thing in this, from pizza cut up small and layered with parchment paper, to soup, to fried rice, to spaghetti to chicken nuggets and tater tots. The trick is that you need to know how to maximize your heat retention. First, fill the bowl with tap water and pop it into the microwave for 2-3 minutes (longer if you are zapping more than one bowl). As soon as it's done, put the lid on (must be straight) while it's still in the microwave (so you don't scald yourself) and screw shut. I let the hot water sit in the bowl while I fix the kids breakfast and get ready. About 15 minutes before we leave, I dump out the hot water, dry the bowl and lid (only if you want to keep something crisp like nuggets, egg rolls, etc.) and put the food in. I zap it for 2 minutes, toss/stir it and re-zap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on how cold the food was going in. As soon as it is done, the lid goes on (straight)immeidately, tightened down and put in the lunch box. Avoid storing cold items in the same box. My kids have 2-tiered insulated lunch boxes from Land's End to separate hot from cold.
For crispier foods like nuggets, I first heat them in the toaster oven. When the food is ready, I dry out the bowl and lid, pop the food in and zap it for 60-90 seconds. The lid must go on immnediately, or you will lose some heat.
We loathe our school's over-priced "hippy-dippy organic" healthy lunch vendor, so this is the perfect way around it. You save money by eating leftovers or food from home and your kids aren't throwing away their hot lunch behind your back. Give them what they like to eat and everyone is happy. The only drawback to this item that I've found is the lid. It takes a little practice to get it on straight the first time. If you screw it down off-kilter, it will leak both it's contents and heat. After 2 years, I think I've gotten my money's worth.

(More customer reviews)I have had this for 6 months now, and have generally not been impressed for the following reasons:
1.I'm not sure why, but the sides of the top container have split, ( Yes, the metal has actually split ), so liquids will leek out. I think this is because the clips are so tight
2.The clips are really tight on the top lid, and the lid jams on and is really difficult to get off ( have to twist and pull a lot ). This is the same as the other 2 star review here mentioned
3.Because it is made of metal, if you put anything hot in it, the Tiffin gets really hot, and the food will cool down quickly, so if you want to put hot food in it, I would not recommend it
I use mine every day to get food from the work cafeteria, so it gets a lot of use. But because of the splitting I have had to throw it away, and get something else

(More customer reviews)I love this bento box. It holds a ton of food, and the elastic strap keeps the box closed to avoid spillage. The upper tier includes a plastic lid that makes it perfect for rice.
I thought the box was pretty in the picture, but it was a whole different story when I saw it in person. It's positively gorgeous! The black plastic is a perfect background for the firefly design. The fireflies are slightly raised and a sparkly gold color. The backdrop is a bit more orangey and lustrous as well. I was very impressed.
If you're looking for a traditional-style bento box, this is a great choice. Keep in mind that it's best for food that you can eat at room temperature, as the bottom tier does not seal. Very easy to clean and a great size to keep in your bag.

(More customer reviews)Microwave the insert and place it and your container of heated food into the neoprene pouch in the morning and it will keep your food hot until lunch. Because you use your own food container, you can prep meals in advance and store them in the fridge instead of having to wash the container before filling it again.
It is a bit small. It can fit a 20 oz Ziplock container but that's about it. Also if you have other things you don't want to keep hot (fruits, drinks, etc) you will have to bring a second lunch container and keep it separate from this one. It is insulated, but some of the heat does transfer through the bag.

(More customer reviews)This box holds 580 ml which makes it rather small for an adult appetite. I'm not sure of the brand - there wasn't anything on the box (in English) which gave me a clue. It is a deep red color and the design is very elegant. I think it is WAY over priced though - which is the main reason I gave it 3 stars. You would do better ordering the Kotobuki 2-Tiered Bento Box, Black/Red Cherry (Sakura) Blossom which is larger, more sturdy, and more economical.

Lock & Lock 3.6 Cup Rectangular Storage with Trays Review

(More customer reviews)I use this and an Emsa E503392 Clip and Close Shallow Rectangle Storage Container with 3 Inserts to pack my lunches for work - I like the dividers to separate out foods that I don't want to mix or leak into other items in my lunch, and I love that the seal and clips mean the lid won't leak or come loose in my purse on my commute. The volume and size is just about perfect for an adult's meal. If you like to pack bento style lunches, or just want to pack a variety of foods in a single container, this is a great product.
In the context of packing lunches, the only drawback is that I would prefer a container that is not quite so deep and had more length and width to hold the same volume. You kind of have to 'stack' food up to fill the depth of the container. The layout of the Emsa container linked above is perfect; however the material of the Lock & Lock container trays/inserts seems more durable than the Emsa, holds up better in the microwave and resists stains a little better. So the two are about equivalent for my purposes and I use them interchangeably.

Laptop Lunch B620-Purple Bento Set 2.0 with Outer Container, 5 Inner Containers, and Accessories Review

(More customer reviews)This set almost makes it fun to make school lunch! The pieces are good quality, and my child (5) can open the lids on her own at school. I did buy extra inserts for variety and size, and since we use this almost every day, I will probably buy more. The flexibility of the kit is great. Love that it is dishwasher-safe. I am probably going to get more for the rest of my family.
As a side note, the "instruction" book is basically a manifesto on healthy and organic eating. You can pretty much figure out how to use this lunch box without it.

I am editing this and revising my review from 5 stars to 3 after using the product nearly the whole school year. It's NOT as easy as I thought for my daughter to open & close the interior pieces, and if they don't close, the whole thing doesn't close. Her teacher just told me to please get something new as the contents were spilling all the time.
Ah well, I have one for myself, which I still love.

Urara Blue Dragonfly 2 Tier Japanese Bento Box Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for myself as a birthday present a year ago when I wanted an inexpensive bento box. I absolutely love this one! It is really cute, and I bought a matching fork that fits under the top lid. Two things I would like to point out:
1) You NEED to buy, make, or find some kind of elastic band to hold the layers together tightly. The 2 tiers do not seal and will not stay together without it. This is not a container for really juicy or wet foods like soup. It is best to pack sauces in separate small containers and add at mealtime (tastes better that way anyway).
2) This will look way too small to you when you open it. Make sure you read online about how to properly pack a bento lunch before making judgments about the size. Packed correctly, this lunchbox will hold approximately a 580 calorie meal. This means the food will be packed snugly and strategically so that there is no air space left. I am a very tall person and this will pack a perfect sized lunch that prevents me from overeating and becoming lethargic at work.
The only reason I rated this as 4 stars instead of 5 is that I really think you need to buy additional accessories (at least an elastic band) to make it complete.
**UPDATE: Apparently this comes with a complimentary elastic band, although it is not shown. Problem solved! 5 stars. If possible, try to buy the matching small fork that fits under the lid. Very convenient and stylish.

Laptop Lunch Bento Set 2.0, Blue and Lime Review

(More customer reviews)After watching my son's school cafeteria serve up one fried or high-sodium food after another last year, I decided this was the year he'd start taking lunch from home. The trick, I knew, was making nutritious, attractive lunches that weren't so bulky he wouldn't have room for them in his backpack or locker. This lunchbox seemed to answer the call. And, since I was going to be making one lunch-to-go, I figured I might as well make two, so I ordered another set for my husband (in black).
So far, one week in, this works fine for transporting food. Unfortunately, the hinge on the back which connects the top to the container, is thinner plastic than the rest. The first time my son used this lunch box he bent the lid back too far and the hinge cracked on one end. The top still stays attached, thanks in part to the latch in front, but something tells me this probably won't last all school year long.
Here's what comes in the container:
- Sturdy metal fork and spoon that fits in a slot along the inside of the box. This slot is wide enough that you can wrap the utensils in a light napkin (not included).
- One rectangular box about the size of a deck of playing cards and a couple of inches deep. This holds nearly two cups of rice, or you can tuck both halves of a sandwich sliced into rectangles.
- One identically-sized rectangular box without a lid which holds a little over a cup of food. This is perfect for carrot or celery sticks.
- One small (1x2") box with a lid that should be tucked into the lidless box mentioned above. This is where you put dip, salad dressing or other condiments, or small foods like raisins, pumpkin seeds, etc.
- One square box with a lid that holds almost a cup of food. This is perfect for fruit, pasta or green salad. I've also packed it with leftover fried rice to rave reviews.
- One square box without a lid that holds a little over half a cup of food. This is the 'dessert' container in our family, and is perfectly sized for small apple bran muffin or brownie.
- A book of sorts that purports to be about using the Laptop set. Honestly, I found it rather preachy and misguidedly so since the authors rambled on about the perils of cafeteria lunches to readers who'd already financially committed to making and sending lunch from home! There are a few recipes in there, but like many recipes claiming to be kid-friendly they're pretty much oriented to kids who are already glad to eat veggies. For those of us with kids who'd rather go hungry than eat a whole wheat pita stuffed with alfalfa sprouts, spinach and other vegetables, well, you might want to look elsewhere for recipe inspiration.
I haven't tried putting this through the dishwasher yet, though the manufacturer says it's dishwasher-safe in the top rack. Washing it in the sink is easy enough, and doing so pretty much forces me to take care of it right after my husband and son get home instead of letting them sit and get smelly.
Speaking of smelly... there wasn't any strange odor when these first arrived. I was very pleased about that! Also, the containers don't seem to absorb food odors the way cheaper plastics do. The pasta salad I sent with my husband, for instance, was pretty darned fragrant with garlic, and yet that smell disappeared entirely when I washed the container. I can't say that for cheaper plastics!
All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with the Laptop Bento Set. I wish the hinge was more sturdy, and that the included book had recipes my son found more appealing, but neither would stop me from recommending this to someone interested in sending their child to school with a healthy, homemade lunch.

Stanley 17-Ounce Heatkeeper- Red Review

(More customer reviews)Save your money! I was very disappointed with this product. Unfortunately all the Stanley® and Thermos® products are chineese made so that does not factor in to the purchase, as heartbreaking as it is. The real problem with this product is that it just does not work as advertised. The concept is great - heat yourself a lunch before work and enjoy at lunch time. In reality it does not work. I have tried two of these in case I had a defective one, but no such thing. I heat soup or chilly scalding hot and seal. Less than three hours later it is barely luke warm. And this is in a heated environment, someone who works outside might as well pack it with ice, it would be just as warm.
I would give it ZERO STARS if that was an option.
Regardless of color, the poor thermal quality of this product is the same.
Put your money towards a Thermos Work Series®. It may be twice as much and you have to heat using a different container, but your meal will still be HOT at dinner time.
