It sounds like a cliché, but the first time I used this scoop, "like a hot knife through butter" was exactly the phrase that came to mind. Try it once on some hard ice cream and you will never go back to your old scoop.

CIA Masters Collection 4-Cup Measuring Cup with Cover Review

CIA Masters Collection 4-Cup Measuring Cup with Cover
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This measuring cup replaces a 30 year old Tupperware 4 cup measuring cup. I previously purchased a Pyrex glass one but it was just too heavy and cumbersome...and so it just sits in the cupboard unused.
This CIA Masters cup is perfect. It is lightweight and well made. The measurement lines are easily visible...even to my presbyopic old eyes. The cover is an excellent idea. Leftover sauces and gravies can go right into the refrigerator. I use it as a "gravy boat", too. It's great for this because it can go right into the microwave to warm up the gravy for those that love second helpings. This is a great bridal shower gift, too. I highly recommend it.

CorningWare French White 5-Piece Serving Bake and Serve Set Review

CorningWare French White 5-Piece Serving Bake and Serve Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Your mother's" Corningware was not this stuff. This is only stoneware from China.
The original "French White" Corningware was made of Corning's famous pyroceramic glass, which could be used on the gas stove, put directly in the freezer, put under the broiler right from the freezer, and oh yes, also used in a microwave. And it was very unlikely to shatter if dropped. If you pounded on it with a hammer and nail you might have gotten it to break.
When World Kitchens bought the license from Corning, they decided to halt production of a line of cookware that would take anything and last forever, and dupe customers, especially brides (and Amazon reviewers), into thinking the stoneware "French White" was the same thing as the wonderful French White pyroceramic cookware previously available to their mothers and sisters.
The pattern is very attractive and can be used with any decor, and they do offer many sizes, but this stuff is not, repeat, really not, what people mean when they say "Corningware." You want to be aware of what you are getting if you are thinking of purchasing it.
Le Creuset can do most of the above mentioned, but it being metal you cannot use it in the microwave. Stoneware cannot go on top of the stove, and repeated trips from the freezer to the oven will eventually cause it to craze and crack. And stoneware will also chip, and break if dropped, etc. Pyrex glassware cannot go on the gas stove although you can take it from the freezer to the oven, and also microwave it.
The only product which could do anything was pyroceramic, and World Kitchens has chosen to remove it from the market because it is "too good."
They have recently brought back a few of the old square shapes, with the Cornflower, or plain white, calling it "vintage," but the French White shape is not making a reappearance yet. If you want it, email them and ask for it!
Meanwhile, get Le Creuset for stovetop cooking and roasting (yes it is expensive but it lasts forever and cooks beautifully), and reheat things in Pyrex in the microwave.

PREMIER 9 CUP** Review

PREMIER 9 CUP**
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm only giving these 2 stars (I thought about 3 stars) but the reason is because of how Rubbermaid completely RUINED the awesome (5 star) Stain Shield line they had before this travesty came along. I hate to say it, but if you're looking for good plastic containers, these are probably the best ones out there at the moment (because of the Stain Shield technology), but only if you can get over the absolutely horrendous lid design. In my opinion, the Stain Shield containers that these replaced were superior in so many ways. Redesigning the lid to be fancy just ruined the line, so if you're Rubbermaid, how about bring back the old Coke formula?
Problem #1
Sure, the lids flex more than the old ones, but it comes at BIG price of being very, very difficult to clean when the old model was SO EASY! That gray part really is rubber and scouring pads don't do well in cleaning rubber; it just sticks. Go throw some soap suds on your car tires and see how easy it is to clean with a kitchen scrubber, now clean your car windows with the same scrubber. That's the difference between the old line and this one. It's like trying to scrub off the residue that an adhesive label leaves behind. Don't get me started on the deep grooves in the lid that you're never going to get into to clean either. It boggles my mind how they thought this improvement was sanitary.
Problem #2
The lids are recessed and go BELOW the surface of the lip when fully seated - at least a quarter inch if not more! So no longer can you fill up the bowl to it's capacity like before. Also, there's no line that tells you were that limit is so it's sort of a guessing game. Did you put too much soup in the container? Well, the only way to know for sure is to set the lid on and see if you get soup being pushed out the sides when you press the lid on. So yeah, before you didn't get anything on the lid and it was easy to clean; now you get a ton of stuff on the lid and it's really hard to clean. What were you thinking Rubbermaid? Terrible design, just terrible. The old model didn't do this and sat flush, if not just a little above the top of the container.
Problem #3
If you stack 2 containers on top of each other with their lids on, you have to lift the container up out of a depression from the lid it's sitting on top of, you can't slide it out. That's hard to explain, but if you look at the picture you can probably get the idea. Again, the previous model had a completely flat top, which meant that when they were in the fridge, you could slide them out easily. That may not seem like a big deal when it's in the cupboard, but when it's in a packed fridge with other containers, it just gets annoying. Another terrible design "improvement". Although I will say that some folks will probably like this feature since it keeps the containers stacked more neatly and are less prone to sliding off of each other. This is not a problem in my house.
Problem #4
There's more rubber on the lid which means you can't see inside the container as well as before because the viewing area is cut down. Additionally, if you look closely at the picture, you'll see that the center of the lid is a smokey shade and not 100% transparent, making it even more difficult to see what's inside since less light is getting in (blocked by more rubber and the lid tint). When you put on the lid you have to make some small adjustments when lining it up and then once it's lined up, you can push the lid down and "burp" it.
Problem #5
The previous model let you microwave something with the lid cracked on the container, flip the lid over when it was done microwaving, and set the hot container on it and walk away. Voila! An easy-to-walk-away-with a hot container! It was like having a built-in pot holder. Those days are over with this lid.
The Good #1
The bottom part of the containers didn't change much, just a little curvier but still 100% functional; no complaints there at all. The stain-shield technology is just amazing and in the 5+ years I've been using them, not one stain! That part is huge for me since I store and microwave a lot of tomato-based items. Also, they do not retain odors, so that's another HUGE plus for this garlic lover.
The Good #2
You can microwave and freeze these containers a thousand times and not have any worries. They can take pretty much anything you can throw at them.
If you don't know if you should get the round or square sizes, I have both the round and square containers and find the square to be much easier when it comes to storage. It's a much more efficient use of space in the refrigerator.
The ones that have the red rubber instead of the gray/black are BPA-free.
All-in-all, the lid "improvements" they made to this line have completely ruined it in my opinion. If you haven't used their old line before, you'll probably love these and won't have all the issues I have with them. I'm always on the lookout for remnants of their old line, but to no avail; I can't find them anywhere. I need to buy more containers, but in the meantime, I'm hoping for a better design to come out, either Rubbermaid or someone else.

Handy Gourmet's Hot Dish Grabber Review

Handy Gourmet's Hot Dish Grabber
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I heat leftovers in my microwave oven in Pyrex and Corning Ware bowls. My main problem was always how to get the bowl out of the microwave and to the table without burning my hands or having it slip from my hands if I used potholders. My Problem was solved by this Hot Dish Grabber. It grips firmly on the edge of the bowl so you can carry it to the table without fear of it slipping. If food gets on it, it just rinses clean. The Hot Dish Grabber has made my life much easier.

This product was terrible. First time I used it, all the non-stick peeled off.
Nordicware customer service was not very helpful. The item comes with a 10 year warranty but this didn't make it past its first use. They want you to spend the money to return the item along with the receipt at which time they will repair or replace the item prorated. Who would want the same item that didn't make it past it's first use?

Kuhn Rikon Magic Cover, Set of 2

Researched these, and found several reviews saying how well these work over the ones advertised on T.V. Well after having them for bout a year and using them they do not work for air tight storage. They do work for a temporary cover while waiting to eat but don't expect them to keep a seal on any type bowl, not glass plastic or steel. So the magic is in how they advertise them and not in how they actually work. If you are looking for a quick cover great ;but these are not for airtight storage!!

Bodum Chocolatiere Glass Hot Chocolate Maker/Frother Review

Bodum Chocolatiere Glass Hot Chocolate Maker/Frother
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product was nice while it lasted, but that was less than 2 months. I purchased mine the week after Thanksgiving and used it a few times a week. I always washed it by hand, even though the instructions state that it's dishwasher-safe. However, after about 6 weeks, the plastic piece at the end of the mixing rod cracked in half and fell off, which rendered the product useless since that piece holds the propeller in place.
I e-mailed Bodum's customer service department, explained the problem, and asked them to replace the broken piece. They responded that the piece I needed would not be available for 4-6 weeks. I then told them that I had really enjoyed the product and did not want to be without my newly purchased hot chocolate maker for a month or longer in the middle of winter, when I use it the most, and asked that they send me a whole new Chocolatiere since they could not promptly replace the part that would make mine functional again. They refused, without further apology or explanation. I do not recommend this product (or any Bodum product, due to the poor service they provided).
Now that I cannot use my Chocolatiere, I tried what another reviewer recommended -- a whisk. It works just as well, at a fraction of the cost (and much less to clean). Just microwave the milk in a Pyrex measuring cup with spout, whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar, and pour into a drinking mug! Wish I had thought of that before I shelled out $30.

CorningWare SimplyLite 2-Quart Oblong Baking Dish with Plastic Lid Review

CorningWare SimplyLite 2-Quart Oblong Baking Dish with Plastic Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is an excellent baking dish-- perfect for the oven or the microwave. The dish is remarkably lightweight-- it feels like sturdy plastic, yet can go right in the oven. I've only used it at 350 degrees and I'm not sure if one can actually broil in it because it did not come with any instructions at all. My pan came in the amazon carton wrapped in bubblewrap without any Corningware information and without a Corningware box. Had I received some material on my new baking pan, I would have given it 5 stars.
It would have been easy for Corningware to make the lid out of the same ovenproof material as they made the pan. However, they inexplicably decided to make the lid out of non-ovenproof plastic. Truthfully, I couldn't decide if the lid was just plastic or a clear version of this same ovenproof material. Only now did I see that the Amazon description lists it as plastic.
The real difference here is that the pan is so incredibly light-- like a metal pan, yet it cleans very very easily-- like glass. Food just doesn't stick on it as it sticks onto metal.

Received these glasses from our wedding registry. We choose them because we have children and thought the heavy base would be best to prevent tip overs. During the first year we had been using these glasses, we broke all but 4 (and I'm not holding out hope they will last another 6 months). The glass only needs to be gently tipped over or knocked against another item in the dishwasher and it is cracked or broken.

Presto 05511 Quick Burger 400-Watt Nonstick Hamburger Cooker Review

Presto 05511 Quick Burger 400-Watt Nonstick Hamburger Cooker
Average Reviews:

I've only used this appliance a dozen times in a couple of weeks, so it might malfunction tomorrow, but. . .
In the first place, mine heats up very quickly, so I've begun putting my hamburger or sausage in it after about 30-60 seconds. It cooks ground sausage - like Owens brand - like a dream. Hamburger or sausage, you just place a mound of meat in the center and lock down the top. The heating element is only in the top, so if appearance is important to you, flip the patty after a couple of minutes. Sausage is done perfectly, as are the hamburgers. I haven't tried frozen patties, because I prefer the taste of fresh.
Several Months Later Update:
Oh, poor me. This little appliance didn't live up to my expectations (after I bought a second one!) For one thing, the non-stick coating started coming off. Then the handle broke. Too bad. Unfortunately I cannot change the rating to fewer stars, but if I could I would have to reduce it to one star.

Broil an extra-juicy quarter-pound hamburger in just two to three minutes with this easy-to-use countertop appliance. The unit broils instead of fries for healthier cooking, plus it supplies a drip pan for catching run-off grease, which helps further reduce calories and fat content. For added convenience, the cover locks in place to prevent splatters, or it can be removed for use as a flat grilling surface--perfect for fried or scrambled eggs. The hamburger maker also provides a nonstick cooking surface to ensure effortless food release. When finished, its removable cooking tray cleans up quickly by hand or in the dishwasher, and the cover can be wiped down with a damp cloth. The 400-watt hamburger cooker measures 12 by 6 by 2-3/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
