I learned that, over time, microwaving plastic breaks down the material and causes chemicals leech into food stored in plastic containers. Yikes. I make alot of tomato based foods and my plastic storage containers were forever turning orange anyway. These clean up great in the dishwasher, but be careful with the lids. If you warp them it's nearly impossible to get all 4 snaps to close. I killed my first container because I didn't read the directions and microwaved something without opening the snaps. I've been using these for a year and the rest of my heavily used set still looks brand new. They are really durable and, even when I've dropped a full one, the container didn't leak or break. There's a rubber gasket inside the lid that really seals the containers tight. These should be easy to open and close as long as you don't warp the lids.
For what it's worth, here's how I've cared for mine to keep the lids from warping:
I wash the glass portion on the bottom rack and my lids on the top rack of the dishwasher. I do not use heated dry.
Even though the manufacturer states that the lids can be microwaved as long as they aren't snapped in place, I never microwave the lids. I use a paper towel instead.
I store mine with the lids snapped on. I don't know if that actually helps with the warping or not, but it helps me find a complete container when I need one.
