(More customer reviews)The great thing about this mug is that when you drink out of it, it is not the plastic lid but the ceramic cup itself that touches your mouth. That's rare, and very welcome. I truly dislike the taste and feel of plastic when I'm drinking good coffee, the great beverage of the world.
No, the lid is not airtight (as one other reviewer complained), but it doesn't need to be. I don't know about most of the rest of you, but I don't turn my travel mug upside down or swing it around to the beat of the classical music on my car radio when there's coffee in it!
The lid is a plastic disk that fits into the indented area you see near the top of the mug; then you turn it to secure it. The disk has a little half-moon cut out of it to allow the coffee to come out.
It's true that the ceramic could be slightly sturdier, though that hasn't been a problem for me. But the design is simple, even elegant, and let's you drink out of a real cup when you're traveling.
