NEWELL RUBBERMAID HOME FG7J94VPCHILI "SERVIN SAVER PLUS" DURABLE FOOD CONTAINER Review

NEWELL RUBBERMAID HOME FG7J94VPCHILI SERVIN SAVER PLUS DURABLE FOOD CONTAINER
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The picture in this offering shows a great product. These little round containers are the perfect size for storing food portions in a convenient size, 1 cup plus a little room for expansion in the freezer. This item is supposed to be 3-pack of these 1.1 cup containers.
The problem with this item is that you get something else. I got a couple of 1.25 cup containers and a 2 cup container! And instead of being round, they are square. If I wanted 2 cup containers I would have ordered 2 cup containers! If I wanted square containers I would have ordered square containers!
I am just so sick of sellers substituting different products for the ones they offer and the ones I order! Without prior notification or permission! It seems to be the thing to do nowadays.

PREMIER 9 CUP** Review

PREMIER 9 CUP**
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm only giving these 2 stars (I thought about 3 stars) but the reason is because of how Rubbermaid completely RUINED the awesome (5 star) Stain Shield line they had before this travesty came along. I hate to say it, but if you're looking for good plastic containers, these are probably the best ones out there at the moment (because of the Stain Shield technology), but only if you can get over the absolutely horrendous lid design. In my opinion, the Stain Shield containers that these replaced were superior in so many ways. Redesigning the lid to be fancy just ruined the line, so if you're Rubbermaid, how about bring back the old Coke formula?
Problem #1
Sure, the lids flex more than the old ones, but it comes at BIG price of being very, very difficult to clean when the old model was SO EASY! That gray part really is rubber and scouring pads don't do well in cleaning rubber; it just sticks. Go throw some soap suds on your car tires and see how easy it is to clean with a kitchen scrubber, now clean your car windows with the same scrubber. That's the difference between the old line and this one. It's like trying to scrub off the residue that an adhesive label leaves behind. Don't get me started on the deep grooves in the lid that you're never going to get into to clean either. It boggles my mind how they thought this improvement was sanitary.
Problem #2
The lids are recessed and go BELOW the surface of the lip when fully seated - at least a quarter inch if not more! So no longer can you fill up the bowl to it's capacity like before. Also, there's no line that tells you were that limit is so it's sort of a guessing game. Did you put too much soup in the container? Well, the only way to know for sure is to set the lid on and see if you get soup being pushed out the sides when you press the lid on. So yeah, before you didn't get anything on the lid and it was easy to clean; now you get a ton of stuff on the lid and it's really hard to clean. What were you thinking Rubbermaid? Terrible design, just terrible. The old model didn't do this and sat flush, if not just a little above the top of the container.
Problem #3
If you stack 2 containers on top of each other with their lids on, you have to lift the container up out of a depression from the lid it's sitting on top of, you can't slide it out. That's hard to explain, but if you look at the picture you can probably get the idea. Again, the previous model had a completely flat top, which meant that when they were in the fridge, you could slide them out easily. That may not seem like a big deal when it's in the cupboard, but when it's in a packed fridge with other containers, it just gets annoying. Another terrible design "improvement". Although I will say that some folks will probably like this feature since it keeps the containers stacked more neatly and are less prone to sliding off of each other. This is not a problem in my house.
Problem #4
There's more rubber on the lid which means you can't see inside the container as well as before because the viewing area is cut down. Additionally, if you look closely at the picture, you'll see that the center of the lid is a smokey shade and not 100% transparent, making it even more difficult to see what's inside since less light is getting in (blocked by more rubber and the lid tint). When you put on the lid you have to make some small adjustments when lining it up and then once it's lined up, you can push the lid down and "burp" it.
Problem #5
The previous model let you microwave something with the lid cracked on the container, flip the lid over when it was done microwaving, and set the hot container on it and walk away. Voila! An easy-to-walk-away-with a hot container! It was like having a built-in pot holder. Those days are over with this lid.
The Good #1
The bottom part of the containers didn't change much, just a little curvier but still 100% functional; no complaints there at all. The stain-shield technology is just amazing and in the 5+ years I've been using them, not one stain! That part is huge for me since I store and microwave a lot of tomato-based items. Also, they do not retain odors, so that's another HUGE plus for this garlic lover.
The Good #2
You can microwave and freeze these containers a thousand times and not have any worries. They can take pretty much anything you can throw at them.
If you don't know if you should get the round or square sizes, I have both the round and square containers and find the square to be much easier when it comes to storage. It's a much more efficient use of space in the refrigerator.
The ones that have the red rubber instead of the gray/black are BPA-free.
All-in-all, the lid "improvements" they made to this line have completely ruined it in my opinion. If you haven't used their old line before, you'll probably love these and won't have all the issues I have with them. I'm always on the lookout for remnants of their old line, but to no avail; I can't find them anywhere. I need to buy more containers, but in the meantime, I'm hoping for a better design to come out, either Rubbermaid or someone else.

These help keep my veggies as fresh as when I bought then for up to 1-3 weeks depending on the type of vegetable. I use them for lettuce, cabbage, carrots, green peppers, red peppers, herbs, cauliflower, broccoli, and zucchini to name the most used.

Rubbermaid's Produce Saver collection of food-storage containers helps extend the life of produce by utilizing a tray and vent system. The vent in the lid allows oxygen to circulate around the produce, while the included tray, once placed inside the food-storage container, helps keep the produce elevated about a 1/2 inch away from moisture. The collection also makes container and lid organization a breeze. Designed with space efficiency in mind, the lids and bases nest together so that they take up less room when stored in a cabinet or drawer, plus the lids snap to the bottom of the bases and to each other, which means no more searching around for the right-size lid. Even more, one lid can accommodate several different-size bases. The square shape allow for stacking the containers when placed on shelves in the pantry or in the refrigerator, while super-clear bases provide better visibility of inside contents. The covered containers can be used in the refrigerator, freezer, or microwave, and clean up quickly by hand or in the dishwasher. Perfect for storing a leftover onion, baby carrots, or cherry tomatoes, this 2-cup food-storage container measures approximately 5 by 5 by 3 inches.

Tupperware Fridgesmart, Small Review

Tupperware Fridgesmart, Small
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the small FridgeSmart medium and the small for use in our kitchen. We frequently buy items in bulk and need to wash and keep separate. The small container is perfect for grapes, lemons and other fruit. It is also ideal for oranges and brocolli crowns. This container when set properly will keep your fresh food fresh. It is also easy to clean. The only drawback was that the lid is somewhat difficult to apply. I also wish it had the valve settings like the medium one does. Overall, this container helps me in the kitchen.

FridgeSmart containers from Tupperware make it easy to create precisely controlled microclimates in any refrigerator, allowing many different kinds of fruits and vegetables to stay fresher longer. Each sturdy plastic container features the famous tight-sealing Tupperware lid, and an adjustable venting system that allows airflow to be regulated according to the contents. A built-in grid in the bottom of the container lets condensation drain away, reducing development of mold while helping to maintain peak freshness. This small container has a capacity of 4-1/2 cups and measures 6 by 6 by 3-1/2 inches. It is designed to stack with other containers in the range, and it is safe in the dishwasher but not the microwave. FridgeSmart containers are covered by Tupperware's full lifetime warranty.

Tupperware Rock N Serve Divided Dish Review

Tupperware Rock N Serve Divided Dish
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

The Tupperware Rock N Serve Divided Dish is terrific. We have four of them two black, as shown in the product picture, and two amethyst ones. Until he retired, I used them for packing leftovers for my husband's lunch at work. Roast beef, pork roast, steak or chicken dinner leftovers were reheated with the food tasting just as good as it did when first served. We also used Tupperware's Apple & Grape Fruit Locker Container Set for his salads and fruit. His co-workers liked his enough to want their own.
Now that my husband has retired we still use them for reheating our leftover meals. He uses the black, I use the purple making it easy to tell them apart since we usually want different portion sizes of certain foods. We just heat them in the microwave using Power Level 7 to enjoy our leftovers. It saves using several different containers for leftovers and then needing to fix a plate. This way everything is divided for a one dish meal cleanup. We also like using our Tupperware Rock'N Serve 6-Piece Set, Gemstone for reheating leftovers. ~ Mrs B. (The Boss agrees!)

Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid 24-Piece Food Storage Container Set Review

Rubbermaid Easy Find Lid 24-Piece Food Storage Container Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am very happy with the Easy Find Lid series. They are very good quality. But then, the many, many other reviewers who all also love this set will tell you that.
So here's some information that is harder to find: all the sets of these that I could find available, and the contents of each set, all in one place.
----------
50 piece set (25 containers, 25 lids):
6 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
6 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
3 x 2 cups (473 mL)
3 x 3 cups (710 mL)
3 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
2 x Divided 4.8 cups (1.4 Liter)
----------
48 piece set (24 containers, 24 lids):
6 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
5 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
2 x 2 cups (473 mL)
3 x 3 cups (710 mL)
4 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
3 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
1 x 14 cup (3.3 Liter)
----------
40 piece set (20 containers, 20 lids - walmart only?)
5 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
5 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
4 x 2 cups (473 mL)
2 x 3 cups (710 mL)
2 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
----------
36 piece set (18 containers, 18 lids):
4 x 0.5 cup (118 mL)
4 x 1.25 cup (296 mL)
5 x 2 cup (473 mL)
4 x 3 cup (710 mL)
3 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
----------
24 piece set (12 containers, 12 lids):
2 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
2 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
2 x 2 cups (473 mL)
2 x 3 cups (710 mL)
2 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
----------
18 piece set (9 contains, 9 lids):
3 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
2 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
1 x 2 cups (473 mL)
2 x 3 cups (710 mL)
1 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
----------
One more note - I found that buying two of the 24 piece sets was several dollars cheaper than buying either the 50 or 48 piece sets, and would provide a nicer distribution that would fit my needs better. Prices will change, of course, so this may not always be true, but it was for me.
Here's some comparison data for buying a 50 piece set, a 48 piece set, 2x24 piece set, and 3x24 piece set, all of which are in a similar price range:
1x50 piece set: 6x0.5, 6x1.25, 3x2, 3x3, 3x5, 2x7, 2x4.8divided

Rubbermaid 7J67 Easy Find Lid Square 7-Cup Food Storage Container Review

Rubbermaid 7J67 Easy Find Lid Square 7-Cup Food Storage Container
Average Reviews:

My only disappointment is that they still break down on high microwave heat. I was hoping with new types of heat resistant plastics that this problem would no longer be an issue. I sent my husband off with a bowl of pasta in tomato sauce and I was upset to see that my new bowl was ruined by the heat and had reddish sauce embedded at the broken down plastic level. I did purchase several different sizes and have been very useful with food storage and keeps the food fresh for quite some time. Just need to make them more heat resistant and less absorbable of sauces and such. Then it would be a perfect product. They also stack very nicely and wash up well under normal use. Don't heat on high!

Rubbermaid 7J72 Easy Find Lid Square 14-Cup Food Storage Container
Average Reviews:

I own four of these now, in addition to the slightly more expensive, slightly nice, possibly slightly toxic ones with the black tops. These nest into those ones just fine, and I like them both but save the 5 dollars and get these. These ones are slightly cheaper, so you won't feel as bad beating them up, and there's no chance of any toxicity coming from frequent dishwasher usages. These have a strong seal and they're sturdy, I've been keeping a weekly veggie stock and tomato sauce in my fridge in large quantities and it keeps me from eating out. You can keep fresh lettuce or spinach or whatever leftovers you want in these. Just dedicate part of your lower rack of your refrigerator to the purpose. If it keeps you at home for one meal, you've recouped the cost of these containers.
Also, I own a lot of plastic storage, and I find I use the big ones the most. They'll nest nicely, so I'd suggest just getting a few of these and see if they alter your cooking habits at all. They're useful!

BUTTER KEEPER with Measure Grid Review

BUTTER KEEPER with Measure Grid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like this butter dish. It fits inside the compartment in our refrigerator door and I like that it's clear and you can see the butter stick inside it. The measuring marks can be handy at times, too. The lid fits nice and snug so you can lift the dish by the lid and it won't come off. The only thing to comment on is that the bottom, where the butter stick sits, is flat, i.e. no ridge or well to hold the stick in place. So, the butter stick can slide a little on the surface and if you're a bit messy with the butter, the butter can get off the edge of the dish a bit. But, that has not been a problem for us, as we don't see it getting messy enough to matter, and we don't leave our butter sitting out where it could begin to melt and try to run off the bottom. So, we recommend this butter dish as a good one to try if you're in the market for such a thing! We like ours!

You can microwave and freeze these containers a thousand times and not have any worries. They can take pretty much anything you can throw at them. In 5 years I've had 2 bowls crack just from normal wear and tear. That's pretty good if you ask me.
If you don't know if you should get the round or square sizes, I have both the round and square containers and find the square to be much easier when it comes to storage. It's a much more efficient use of space in the refrigerator.
The red line of these bowls are BPA-free.
All-in-all, the lid "improvements" they made to this line have completely ruined it in my opinion. I'm always on the lookout for remnants of their old line, but to no avail; I can't find them anywhere. I need to buy more containers, but in the meantime, I'm hoping for a better design to come out, either Rubbermaid or someone else.
**If you know of a better product than this one, please leave a comment and let us all know!!!

Rubbermaid 8-Piece Glass Food Storage Container Set with Easy Find Lid Review

Rubbermaid 8-Piece Glass Food Storage Container Set with Easy Find Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We decided to rid ourselves of all but a few plastic containers due to BPA and staining concerns, and after reading tons of reviews for glass containers and finding none on these new Rubbermaid ones, I decided to purchase these anyway because I have always loved Rubbermaid products, and I wanted glass containers that could go both in the fridge, freezer, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. These do it all! I also wanted nesting containers because I simply don't have the space for setting each container out individually. I bought two sets of these, and I nest all but the two smallest containers together. The lids stack wonderfully, and I love it that all but the smallest size containers use the same size lid. This way, if I ever lose or damage a lid, the container can be used with one of the other lids. How often do you use every container at the same time? I also like that the gasket in the lid is removable for cleaning and the lids can get thrown in the dishwasher. This is perfect for me, and so far we have no complaints.

Luminarc Stackable Bowl 21pc BPA-Free Review

Luminarc Stackable Bowl 21pc BPA-Free
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This purchase from Amazon was actually my second set of these bowls. I got the first years ago, and have been looking for more of the lids (the bowls are easy to find) for quite some time. They're fantastic:
- Tempered glass, so they will "pebble" instead of shard (I broke a large bowl in the dishpan a few years back, and became an instant fan)
- Rim design lets you stack them hot out of the dishwasher - they won't get stuck together as they contract and cool
- Lids are polyethylene, not PVC or something worse
- Table to fridge to freezer with no hassles (also microwavable on low, but the lack of a handle makes me reluctant to do this)
This set contains:
- three 2.6 oz ("pinch" bowls)
- one 4.9 oz
- one 7.4 oz
- two 12.2 oz w/lids
- two 20.6 oz w/lids
- one 1.2 qt w/lid
- one 2.0 qt w/lid
- one 3.0 qt w/lid
- one 4.5 qt w/lid
(translate all that to metric and it makes more sense). The lack of a lid for the smaller bowls is intentional - the plastic is a bit stiff, and the small bowls don't really have enough leverage to put a lid on and off. However, the next size bowl up or down (turned over) makes an excellent lid for the smaller bowls, and I do this all the time.
I ordered the package with a bit of trepidation, since several other kitchen favorites I ordered more of from Amazon are now made in China. I'm pleased to report that the lids from this set are made in France, and the glass bowls are made in the USA. Hallelujah.

Rubbermaid 7J93 Produce Saver Square Food Storage Containers Set of 8 Review

Rubbermaid 7J93 Produce Saver Square Food Storage Containers Set of 8
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I originally purchased these on a very cynical whim. My mom had tried the "bags" which failed miserably so when I ran across this set I really had very low hopes. Well, here are my results:
So far I've had the same blueberries in one of these containers for THREE WEEKS. I purchased and washed them on July 19th, the day before a dinner party, put them in a Produce Saver bowl and put them in the refrigerator. Some were eaten at the party, many weren't. Today is August 10th and I guess I'm going to have to break down and make muffins with them or something because they're as fresh and plump today as they were 3 weeks ago.
Grapes stay so fresh in the large container (I buy 2 big bags at a time now) that after a week even their stems are still green. The grapes themselves are crisp and cold.
My strawberries lasted for a week the last time before they were finally all eaten. Not sure how long they would hold up as they are pretty popular. I just wash them, drain them, de-stem them and pull out all of the already questionable berries, put them in a medium container (holds about 2 lbs of berries without stems), stuff them in the fridge and walk away. We are just able to reach in and snack on fresh berries whenever we want.
And a big one -- tomatoes. Already sliced or diced tomatoes are nas-tay after they've been refrigerated overnight. I have stored diced tomatoes in the small bowl for a week and a half and they were just as tasty as the day I diced them. Not at all soggy and grainy.
Currently I have one of these sets and an extra medium bowl. It's on my shopping list to get another set ;-) They've already saved me a fortune in fresh produce and I've only had them for about a month! My next experiment will be with bananas.... If my large bowl is ever empty long enough.

Rubbermaid's Produce Saver collection of food-storage containers helps extend the life of produce thanks to its tray and vent system. The vent in the lid allows oxygen to circulate around the produce, while the included tray helps keep the produce elevated about a 1/2 inch away from moisture. The square shape of the containers allow for easy stacking, while super-clear bases provide better visibility of inside contents. The covered containers can be used in the refrigerator, freezer, or microwave, and clean up quickly by hand or in the dishwasher. This four-pack set includes two 2-cup containers, one 5-cup container, and one 14-cup container.
