OXO Good Grips 26481 Nonstick Beak Ice Cream Scoop Review

It sounds like a cliché, but the first time I used this scoop, "like a hot knife through butter" was exactly the phrase that came to mind. Try it once on some hard ice cream and you will never go back to your old scoop.

Silicone Parchment Sheet Pan Liners Review

Silicone Parchment Sheet Pan Liners
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Edit: Don't use this in a toaster oven--it will catch on fire. (No, you don't want to know how I know.) For toaster oven baking, use a silpat instead.
Original Review:
Rice flour baked goods stick to baking pans like you would not believe. If you're baking gluten-free, this is indispensable.
I used this to bake a gluten-free rice pizza crust in a toaster oven: it's the only thing that kept the crust from sticking to the pan; tinfoil, nope; wax paper, nope, and it melted into the crust--but this peeled right off.

Norpro 12.5 Inch x 18 Inch Cooling Rack Review

Norpro 12.5 Inch x 18 Inch Cooling Rack

I have not purchased this item, however, the product title and description do not match! The product claims to be an 18-inch stainless steel cooling rack, but the description clearly states that the item is chrome plated steel. These are two VERY different materials so buyer beware.

Norpro 12- Piece Nonstick Gingerbread Cookie Pan Review

Norpro 12- Piece Nonstick Gingerbread Cookie Pan

I got this for a steal after Christmas, but tried it out when I got it, anyway. Enough weight to the pan to call it sturdy. Norpro products are always high quality; it's what I've come to expect. I'll even pay more to get their quality; this time I didn't have to. Cookies slid out and came out perfect. Great pan that I'll have for years, if one of my kids don't appropriate it.

Silicone Liner 3-Pack 2-Cookie Sheet & 1-Toaster Oven Size - MIU #99122 Review

I get a lot of promotional items for my blog, so i actually recieved my first set of these liners for free (which was serendipitous since I had planned to order them anyway!).
There are several things that I love about them:
-they are durable, will hold up to washing, being folded in a cabinet, scrapes with a spatula (although not a knife!)
-obviously they are re-usable. Parchment paper can be reused a few times depending on what you are making, but this is better for the environment.
-it lays flat on the cookie sheet! Maybe this is just a pet peeve of mine, but I hate how parchment paper rolls up on the sides.
-Baking is ALWAYS even on the bottoms of the cookies.
-The non-stick surface is amazing, and everything comes off with just the slightest touch, significantly better than with parchment or no liner at all.
A few things reasons why it didn't earn the last star for review:
-For some recipes, I had to adjust cooking/baking times slightly based on using the silicone liner versus parchment. Some cooks may not want to trouble with this.
-if your cookies are touching the brown border on the silicone liner, they will get slightly more done on the bottom. This is the only place on the liner where the baking is not perfectly even. Means you cannot utilize the entire surface of the liner.
-I made some cookies this holiday with colored decorating sugar, and I found the liners discolored slightly. Just wear and tear I suppose, but I didnt think it would happen so quickly.
*One other thing to note, several other cooks and food bloggers highly recommended these liners to me over the original Silpat brand. The cost is better and based on usage, they preffered MIU.

Norpro Stainless Steel Scoop, 50mm (3-Tablespoon) Review

Norpro Stainless Steel Scoop, 50mm (3-Tablespoon)

Finally, an ice cream scoop that gets the ice cream out of its container AND then out of the scoop into the dish. Sounds like a no-brainer, right? Should be -- but this is the first scoop design I've ever used that managed both with equal ease. Most of the old-fashioned ones had a release mechanism that got the ice cream into the dish pretty well, but needed tons of hot water and the strength of 10 men and a boy to get the goodie out of its native container. More recent versions have made the container-to-scoop process less of a herculean task, but need the assistance of finger or other appendage to make it the rest of the way to the bowl.
This delightful object has solved both problems. In addition, it's a God-send for baking cookies. I operate a virtual cookie factory every Christmas and have tried many techniques to speed the dough-to-baking pan transfer. Last year, I saw this scoop and its smaller (2 teaspoon) sibling at a kitchen supply place and purchased both. I was able to bang through all my drop cookies in record time -- hurrah!
Whether ice cream or cookie baking is your passion, I can't think of a better way to spend 10 bucks!
Enjoy!

Silicone Baking Mat 12" Round Microwave Review

Silicone Baking Mat 12 Round Microwave
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this mat specifically for my microwave and I love it. It's good quality, not thin and flimsy, and comes just far enough beyond the edge of my glass turnplate to keep little splatters from getting into the recessed edge. Clean up is a breeze; no more soaking or scraping egg, cheese, etc. off the glass plate. Of course, it works beautifully on my pizza pan (slide the pizza off, don't cut it on the mat!), and is great for baking cookies and bread. My round loaf was as beautiful on the bottom as the top.
