Norpro KRONA Stainless Steel 8.5 Inch Deep Colander Review

Norpro KRONA Stainless Steel 8.5 Inch Deep Colander
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's not cheap, but it's gooood. Whether you need to drain pasta or filter out the mind control rays from the orbital satellites, this one'll do the job for a long time. Very solid. A little bit heavy, but that's the tradeoff--sure, you can get lighter (and wimpier) colanders, but why run the risk of having your mind being subverted by the CIA because they jack up the power a bit?
Seriously, it's a very good colander. You'll never need another one. The handles are welded on so there's no rivets to fall out, and it's about the right size for the typical pasta mess. Enjoy.

Use it to wash or drain everything from large vegetables to boiled pastas or potatoes, meats, and puddings. Medium-size holes allow water to flow freely and are also perfect for ricing cooked food. Krona stainless-steel products won't chip or dent; they're guaranteed to last a lifetime. Each base is tri-ply, with an inner layer of aluminum for added durability.

Bodum Tea Press with Stainless Steel Filter Review

Bodum Tea Press with Stainless Steel Filter
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bodum design and quality has always intrigued me in both positive and negative ways. I have in the past easily broken a bodum glass item and yet I am still drawn into purchasing another product.
I've wanted the Bodum Assam 34-ounce cast-iron version for longevity, but the weight of it alone is too much to handle to brew tea. So I opted for this 34-ounce glass version which is very light and, like other Bodum borosilicate glass items, delicate. I have yet to break porcelain items by simple bumps while washing, but with a Bodum I am sure to crack them in time.
However, after much searching for a tea brewing device which affords functionality and simplicity, I fall for a Bodum yet again.
WHY? It is only this brand that features a tea press that stops the brewing process when the desired strength has been reached.
HOW? The loose leaves are placed on the center inside the stainless steel filter. When you want the brewing process to stop, the plunger pushes the leaves down the bottom of the filter away from the liquid and sealed by a silicon rubber ring surrounding the plunger. It's a simple ingenious design carried and modified from their coffee press.
PROS:
- Effective and ingenious plunger to create a tailored brewing strength depending on user, water volume and type of tea leaves
- Despite a thin glass container, surprisingly keeps the liquid hot for a relatively long time.
- Simple design makes an elegant product that matchces any interior as well as hand washing very easy.
- No spill in pouring. I was afraid the small lip may cause spilling while pouring, but I experienced none. No spills travelling down the wall after pouring as well.
- Glass version allows you to view the brewing the process and cater to your needs.
CONS:
- Thin borosilicate glass makes the tea press more fragile than you think.
- Plunger design is simple, but clumsy as well. Plunger stalk has to be aligned completely vertical or pushing straight down will be met with great resistance especially as the silicon rubs against the stainless steel wall.
- Loose leaves are not all contained on the bottom as some may escape thru the silicon seal and shred against the stainless steel filter wall. If this happens, the brewing process is not effectively and completely stopped. The leaves especially escape if you don't align the plunger completely vertically. (You will know what I am talking about when you own it and experience the same).VERDICT:
You have a choice between an extremely heavy cast-iron version or the extremely light glass version. I wish Bodum created a thicker-walled version in glass so I can still view the brewing process and have it less fragile than most Bodum products these days.
For the price, I really can't complain so I find myself purchasing yet another functional and patented Bodum product. Until another company has come up with an ingenious plunger system that is better built, I guess Bodum it will be for now.

We set out with a goal to make an innovation in tea brewing and the patented Bodum tea press system was born.Brewing loose-leaf tea or tea bags has never been easier or cleaner. The Bodum Assam Medium Tea Press serves 4 5 people and is made from durable, heat-resistant borosilicate glass.Designed after the traditional teapot shape, the Assam embodies a more modern, spout-less look.To brew, simply set the durable stainless steel filter into the glass pot.Fill the strainer with the appropriate amount of your favorite loose-leaf tea.Pour hot water over the leaves, filling the pot. Then set the plunger/lid in place in the up position.Allow the tea to brew to your liking and then press down on the plunger. The press compresses the tea leaves below the infusion holes in the strainer; completely stopping the brewing process. The Assam Tea Press puts an end to bitter, over brewed tea.Once you press, you can rest assured that your first cup and your third cup will taste exactly the same. There's no need to remove the filter and there's no mess. What you have left is the true unforgettable and delicious taste of your preferred tea. Some teas can even be brewed a second or third time, making the Shin Cha tea press the perfect choice.Just stir up the tea leaves and fill the pot back up with hot water, repeating the process. It is a clean and easy way to enjoy loose-leaf tea whether it is black, green, white, blooming or herbal tea.The clear glass leaves the infusion remain visible at all times, making it a very attractive table piece. The Assam is dishwasher safe and the glass teapot is microwave safe. The glass Assam Tea Press is available in both small (2 cup - 0.5 l, 17 oz.) and medium (4 cup - 1.0 l, 34 oz.) sizes. This medium version has a 1.0 l, 34 oz. capacity.

JX2027SMSS 27%22 Deluxe Trim Kit for Models PEB2060 and JEB1860 %2D Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

This is a FALSELY advertised item. Just like GE doesn't have to pay taxes, they think they can state "stainless steel" when the kit's cover is in fact made out of the cheapest plastic GE could find. Unless the previous kit, which was made from polished aluminum metal, this one is poorly made. What's more important, the kit is 3/4" lower than the previous, so if you are looking to replace anything, you may have to redo the cabinet window opening. If you don't mind staring at a fake blob of plastic that will for sure scratch in a day or two, go ahead. Otherwise, stay away and find another microwave with a better kit to install. Preferably of another brand.

Haier 3.9 Cu Ft Fridge W Full Sz Freezer Black Review

Haier 3.9 Cu Ft Fridge W Full Sz Freezer Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
To prolong the life on your fridge, you should read what must be done. This fridge has to be unplugged for 24 hours if it is EVER horizontal, probably with the liquids inside for the cooling system. Since the delivery men could have had it horizontal (assume that they did) or if they had it diagonal going up the stairs or whatnot, you should have it unplugged for 24 hours. After that, you have to have it on '4' setting for 24 hours.
Beware that the back can get pretty hot as its meant to take heat out of the fridge.
After that, the fridge seems to be working GREAT. Had it for about a month or so now and it is cold enough to make ice and freeze my ice pack on the '5' setting as well as keep my drinks cold. NOT a disappointment like the so called mini-fridges which are really mini coolers.

Panasonic NN-P794SF Genius Prestige 1-3/5-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel Review

Panasonic NN-P794SF Genius Prestige 1-3/5-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My new mircowave arrived just fine to my doorstep upstairs. When I carried it in, I heard something moving around inside and hoped it wasn't broken. It turned out to be the roller-ring (that rotates the plate). It was moving around inside the microwave without any padding. I thought that was kind of strange, but no harm done.
Well, I've owned full-sized microwaves before, but most recently I had a Sharp Half-pint, which was small, cute, and oh-so simple. I only ever used the minute plus button. But it didn't heat that evenly or fast, and worst of all, it was not big enough to make a full batch of Rice Krispy Treats at once! That's really what got me looking for a replacement.
So I wanted a GOOOOD looking microwave and had to have stainless. I chose this one because the buttons and control panel were stainless color too. Really, practically the whole microwave surface is stainless, not just the face, which makes all the difference. The less black the better, as far as I'm concerned.
Also, I "passed" on the newer Panasonic model with the pop-out dial because I tried it out at the local Costco and didn't much care for the dial--I think it's faster to just punch in the time. This model, NN-P794SF runs on the same platform as the SN747 / SN757 / SN797 / T945 / SN947 / SN957 / SN977.
Well, this microwave is definitely bigger than my half-pint; the counter footprint is pretty deep to accommodate some nice-sized dishes. It looks fantastic, though, and it heats fabulously. The inverter is supposed to heat stuff constantly using variable heating strengths, instead of the usual on-off cycles of full power.
The first thing I tried was reheating a bowl of pasta & sauce. I had read the directions, and this was the perfect dish to try out with the auto-sensor reheat. It figures out all by itself how long to run, by detecting when the food first starts to give off steam.
Well, it was at this point that I realized how crappy my old microwave was. The food actually came out heated evenly and *H-O-T* without any splattering whatsoever. Next, I tried the beverage heating option. It put it at 3 minutes for 2 cups of water. When it was finished, it wasn't visibly boiling, but it was extremely hot, enough to cause a very slight burn after using my fingertip to test it. I suppose it could have reached boiling temperature without bubbles, as stated in the manual. So, while it's not lightning fast, it's rather powerful and even-heating.
My next test was to gauge its Rice Krispy function. No, there's not a Rice Krispy button, but the bowl I always use to make full-batches of Rice Krispy treats in fits inside with room to spare...oh-so spacious. Rice Krispies treats, here I come!
The only things I would change about this microwave are:
1. I do prefer a door handle to a button to open the door, but the button seems okay to me.
2. After every command, you must also push the START button, even for the minute-plus. Much faster for one-touch features to start automatically, but I guess it is safer this way...not a biggie.
3. I do wish the LCD was blue instead of green, but that's kind of nit-picky of me, don't you think?
Overall, it feels really solid and looks GRRRREAT! The buttons are so much more delightful to use than those touch pads, with their rounded surface and tactile little "click".
All in all, I am extremely happy with my purchase. Only time will tell now if I have any real problems, but Panasonic products usually do well for me (knock on wood). I will be sure to post back if anything malfunctions, but right now I can not complain.
Good Luck and Happy Shopping!
:)

With 1250 watts of power and a simple push-button control panel, this family-size countertop microwave oven provides an array of convenient features. The unit's epoxy interior has a spacious 1-3/5-cubic-foot capacity, while its cook-a-round, automatic 15-inch turntable provides even heating. With the touch of a single key, the Genius Sensor adjusts power levels and calculates cooking times automatically for reheating and cooking various foods. And for defrosting foods even faster than with the auto-defrost feature, the microwave's Inverter Turbo Defrost distributes microwave energy in a new and more efficient way, resulting in quicker, more thorough defrosting. In addition, its keep-warm menu includes five items, so foods like stew, gravy, and desserts remain warm in the oven until they are ready to be served.
Other useful details include 10 power levels, five cooking stages, a multi-lingual menu action screen, auto reheat, and controls for popcorn, quick minute, more/less control, delay start, and a timer. The stainless fingerprint-resistant finish on the front of the microwave helps reduce the amount of smudging normally found on stainless appliances. With its elegant design and reflective door, the microwave complements any kitchen decor and doesn't take up much counter space, measuring only 19-1/16 by 21-7/8 by 11-15/16 inches. The unit is covered by a one-year limited warranty.

We needed to replace our SS Samsung microwave after 6 faithful years. Wanted a big SS micro without too many unnecessary buttons, this fit the bill! Bought at HD for 119.00 + tax which was a better deal(about $7) than the $35.00 shipping charged by Amazon, plus we needed it now. This microwave is large, sturdy, and powerful. If you have children the pull handle in my opinion is better because you do not get little finger smudges. It has all the little things, add/deduct time, popcorn time, and defrost. You will not be disappointed in this microwave.

Please be aware - WHEN RUNNING UNIT, MUST HAVE THE CARASEL AND PLATE IN THE MICROWAVE or it won't run properly.
In my 1st attempt to test the unit I received a loud buzzing and a bluefish-orange flicker after 5 seconds (all 4 tests did the same); called customer care (which answered on 3rd ring - no waiting :)), but they never heard of the problem so I bought it back. In the store I insisted they try the replacement and the same happened! The CS rep put the carousel and plate in and no problems - same was true when testing the original unit.
Sounds like many reviewers have stated the unit didn't work out of the box and/or they got a burning smell - how many tested like me without the plate - WHO KNEW!!??
So after all this running around, 5 hrs, I won't hang it and use it fully until tomorrow - WANTED PEOPLE TO HOPEFULLY LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!

Just bought this toaster for $20, just because I liked the way it looked. Manual said set dial at 4 for reg. bread, but that burned it quickly + stunk up the whole house. Had to unplug to stop heating. Toasted thin bread on lowest setting + still burned. Made in China. Defective?
Called Black + Decker C.S. + waited a very long time for rude/nasty rep. named Diamond, who wanted # off metal part of elec. prong--042-EH. They're sending me another toaster. Bad reviews here about burning but will try another one.
Have looked at all black toasters online, and only other one I liked the look of was Kitchen Aid at about $40. Unfortunately, many reviews say it won't toast on even the highest setting. What? What's going on here? Can't anything be made right anymore? Where's quality control?

Yh Lh Emerson Microwave 1.1CUF Review

Yh Lh Emerson Microwave 1.1CUF
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This microwave has just about everything a medium to large family could ever want or need. The microwave is rated at 1000 watts, which is probably more than you are usually used to. If you never really paid attention before, the higher the microwaves wattage, the more powerful and usually faster cooking, but this also depends on the size of the microwave. Anywho, this microwave has a lot of power. It can cook popcorn in under two minutes, heat up pizza in around the same time. I have even cooked chicken breast in here just for the heck of it, and it came out wonderfully after about ten minutes!
The exterior is beautiful, one of the nicest I have seen, which was really one of the selling points for me. The buttons are large and easy to read, and once you take a look over the instruction manual, you'll basically understand how to use it, not to difficult at all. There are many one push buttons for certain food types, like pizza, popcorn, and potatoes, as well as two automatic defrosting modes, one by weight and the other by time of course. The microwave is a little large if you are used to a compact, so keep that in mind, but it is worth it by a mile.
The only problem with this microwave is that the store listed here on Amazon is selling it for about twice as much as it is in stores such as WalMart, where I got mine. So I would definitely recommend this microwave, but also recommend you purchase it somewhere else.
