This is a FALSELY advertised item. Just like GE doesn't have to pay taxes, they think they can state "stainless steel" when the kit's cover is in fact made out of the cheapest plastic GE could find. Unless the previous kit, which was made from polished aluminum metal, this one is poorly made. What's more important, the kit is 3/4" lower than the previous, so if you are looking to replace anything, you may have to redo the cabinet window opening. If you don't mind staring at a fake blob of plastic that will for sure scratch in a day or two, go ahead. Otherwise, stay away and find another microwave with a better kit to install. Preferably of another brand.

WMC1070XB Microwave Oven Review

WMC1070XB Microwave Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought my Whirlpool WMC1070XB Microwave at Radio Lab. It was on sale for $99, marked down from the MSRP of $109. It replaced a 19-year-old 600 watt, 0.5 cu. ft. Emerson that had finally stopped heating evenly. My policy on food is: If I can't microwave it, I don't buy it! So, having a good-working microwave is very important to me.
I have been using it twice daily for about a week now and am very pleased. The size is 700 watts and 0.7 cu ft. capacity. The dimensions of the compact WC1070XB are 17 1/2" long X 12 1/2" wide X 10" high.
The control buttons are very sensitive to touch. The buttons are as follows: Popcorn, Potato, Pizza, Beverage, Frozen Entree, Dinner Plate, Fresh Vegetables, Cook, Power Level, Defrost, Add A Minute, #s 0-9, Clock, Timer, Start, and Cancel. The lever to open the door is on the lower right side below the control buttons. When you push it, the door only opens a couple of inches rather than swinging open all the way and then bouncing back if you don't stop it.
There are 10 different cooking levels and the manual offers recommendations for which level to use for which foods. The default setting is 10 if you just use cook, select the time, and push start. The oven has a child lockout feature which can be activated by pushing the cancel button for 3 seconds. This locks the oven and prevents children from playing with it.
The owner's manual is complete and easy to understand. So far this Whirlpool WMC1070XB is everything that can be hoped for in a small, compact, counterop microwave oven. As long as you don't have to cook anything really large, this is an excellent buy.

Emerson Microwave Oven Touch Control Black Review

Our last microwave was Emerson. Travis wanted something new, so he purchased "Sharp R-216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu-Foot Microwave, Stainless Steel" (as well as "Nordic Ware 11-Inch Microwave Plate Cover"). The Sharp microwave was broken when it arrived and we were like ok, no more sharp. Returned it (UPS picked up), got a full refund and I went for this one though it didn't really call out to me. But see, this is Emerson, the company that made our old microwave that lasted for about ****3 years**** (till the buttons stopped working), and another reason I decided to get this is that the design reminded me of the microwave they use at the Japanese deli (Diamobu Japanese Deli Grocery 129 East 47th Street New York, NY 10017-2026 (212) 755-7380) and cafe (Cafe Zaiya [...] 18 East 41st Street New York, NY 10017-6395 (212) 779-0600 and one also on the second floor of Kinokuniya Bookstore [...] 1073 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10018 (212) 869-1700 but I forget if they even let you warm up your own food coz they have crazy good free table service lol). Well, we actually like the looks of it (this picture here is just not very flattering, I think) and it works great too. hope this review helped. ;)

The microwave works great. I bought it from Home Depot at 89.99, but the buttons were written in French! I couldn't find that warning anymore in the product description, and when I called customer service, they didn't even know why it was in French. I am confused as to why that was. It's a good thing they have pictures in the buttons.

The main reason for buying this was just that we couldn't find a big enough microwave that was also squat enough. This one fit the bill and is an overall good microwave. No complaints.

In three years, we have gone through two of these. After about 18 months, the first stopped cooking anything. We blamed it on the time someone turned it on for a couple minutes empty. So we got another; this one turns off the entire microwave after about 30 seconds of operation. If we unplug it for a while, it is good for another few seconds. Considering it is a built-in and takes 10 minutes to get it in and out, 30 seconds of operation doesn't quite cut it.
I did not buy this at Amazon, by the way, but enjoy the opportunity to vent about it.

Based on Consumer Reports recommendation of Kenmore microwaves in January of 2009, I purchased the Kenmore Microwave Oven 721.63252 on January 20, 2009. This microwave performed perfectly every day until February 24, 2011, when it no longer heats anything. To repair this appliance with Sears costs $129 for a flat fee service call. Since I paid $111.01 total for the microwave when it was new, I will not be repairing it. I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THE MICROWAVE IF I KNEW IT WOULD ONLY LAST 2 YEARS. I will not purchase another Kenmore microwave as long as I live.

MT4155SPQ %2D Microwave Countertop %2D White Review

MT4155SPQ %2D Microwave Countertop %2D White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
On Nov 12, 2011 I purchased the Whirlpool microwave (model MT4155), based upon rave reviews by Consumer Report. It arrived without problem, the box from Amazon (and the internal one from Whirlpool) in pristine condition. HOWEVER, despite only ever using the microwave for reheating coffee in ceramic mugs, and boiling water or steaming vegetables in glass dishes, a crack began to appear in the paint on back wall of the appliance. By April, the back of the microwave was deformed, with the back side, towards the control panel, deformed like a big tumor. July 1st I called Whirlpool to report the problem; a service repair guy came out the next day (from a contracted-with-Whirlpool-company) and said it was a dysfunction that was not repairable, and no fault of mine ("no signs of abuse"); he told me to call Whirlpool in 3 business days to find out what's next. On 7/8, I called Whirlpool again and was told the file was submitted incompletely and I'd need to bring in a new repair person. This time I had to wait five days. On the 12th, the SAME repair person was sent; he was horrified at what had happened (and had a boss from NJ with him) and they called Whirlpool WITH ME to confirm how to file to report to get me the replacement. We were told it would take 24 hrs for the report to be filed in the system. I called Whirlpool AGAIN back the following day, and was told it still wasn't complete! And suddenly a "2nd opinion" from a DIFFERENT repair company is required. No person from Whirlpool had previously mentioned this; in fact, they'd told me the one repair company was the _only_ one who serviced my area! Suddenly, this is not true...?! Today (7/13/11) I spoke with a supervisor at Whirlpool (Sherry, in Tennessee), after dealing with a very unprofessional lady, who told me that the ONLY option is to wait until this second company is available to assess and re-review the damage.
I encourage you to NOT buy this or any other Whirlpool microwave! At least, not via mail order. Too much time has passed for me to be eligible to return it through Amazon, and Whirlpool has procedures to ensure you cannot ever get your money back or a replacement fairly. I plan to file a complaint through BBB and Consumer Reports! I feel like Whirlpool has STOLEN $184.90 from me and will NEVER purchase one of their products again.

Amana 2.0 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave, AMC2206BAS, Stainless Steel Review

Amana 2.0 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave, AMC2206BAS, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this item from a local appliance store on Feb 19, 2010. The salesperson praised the Whirlpool line over Sharp or GE which they didn't sell. The Whirlpool line has Magic Chef on the low end, then next up is Whirpool and Amana with Maytag their top of the line. He didn't think it was worth the extra $100.00 to buy the Maytag for the little extra quality or features and neither did we. We were replacing our less than three year old Panasonic that had a spin dial and inverter that went out and the parts were as much as a new microwave.
The first one of these microwaves we brought home we got out of the box and the control panel was hanging loose on the front. The holes on the side of the unit looked like they should have screws to hold the control panel in and they were missing. We called the store and took it back for an exchange when we were in that town next. On 2/24/10 we brought the second Amana microwave home. They opened, inspected and tested it before sending it home with us. The panel was a little loose and had no screws in it but we were comfortable using it.
On 3/6/10 the light inside of the microwave went out. We called in and the appliance store sent us out a bulb for free but we have to install it because it wasn't covered under warranty. To even change the bulb you have to have a speciality security screwdriver to open the case (which we happen to have).
3/22/10 - We received the bulb but hadn't installed it yet and went to warm up some breakfast and the microwave was asking us to set the clock. We set the clock, opened the microwave and the screen went dead. When we would open and shut the door the control panel would flash about 6 times but now has stopped even flashing. It was completely dead. We tried plugging it into a different circuit, and plug (along with other items that were plugged in and functioning) and nothing. We have called and will bring it back to the store again and they are going to give us our money toward another one of these which we will NOT buy or another microwave in the store.
Save yourself the hassle we have had and buy another brand. At least we have an appliance store that will take a lemon back.

Just purchased a floor model on clearance for $76, so don't have a manual. We have been able to figure out the standard features and aren't interested in the fancy features. So far, it works good. The only problem, so far, is that it's nearly impossible to see inside to monitor cooking (important for popcorn, etc). We have to turn off the kitchen light and even then the inside is hard to see through the screen in the window. They need a brighter bulb or something.

Sharp 1-Cubic-Foot 1100-Watt Microwave, White Review

Sharp 1-Cubic-Foot 1100-Watt Microwave, White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This attractive Sharp 308 model is virtually the exact same as the 402, 410, and 420 models. Its 1100 watts cooks everything fast, but it's surprisingly quiet when running. Stack your biggest food portions on the edges of your plate when warming. It also has plenty of cool tricks and tips, such as shortcut keys and you can mute all the bells and whistles by pressing a simple 3-key sequence. It's bigger than my previous 1.0cu.ft. microwave, but well worth it. Whatever you do, this is like buying a new phone: READ THE MANUAL and everything will seem simple and make sense. I'm very happy with it.
Cons? I wish the START and STOP pads were larger. However, if I use my first knuckle I have more success than my thumb or fingernail. Go figure.

Panasonic NN-SF550M New Flat 1000-Watt 1-Cubic-Foot Microwave Oven Review

Panasonic NN-SF550M New Flat 1000-Watt 1-Cubic-Foot Microwave Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this model to replace a 4 year-old turntable microwave that claimed to have 1400W power. Whatever that one could do, this one does better. At 1000W it cooks faster and despite the lack of a turntable it heats more evenly than any of the several microwaves I've owned over the past 25-30 years. For the first time in my experience, microwaved bacon comes out completely even with no burnt or raw spots. Defrosting is quick and consistent. The extra space and flexibility you get by eliminating the turntable are very useful. It seems much bigger than 1 cu. ft. Like probably most users, I need microwave mostly for defrosting and re-heating rather than full-scale cooking. This oven has a number of extra features I'll rarely use, if ever, and thus cannot evaluate. But for "standard" everyday use I can't see anything that needs improvement.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Panasonic NN-SF550M New Flat 1000-Watt 1-Cubic-Foot Microwave Oven

Advancing microwave cooking to a whole new level, this 1000-watt countertop oven features a spacious 1-cubic-foot capacity with an easy-to-clean flat-bottom surface that takes full advantage of the interior's entire cooking area. The unit can accommodate larger dishes than comparable oven's with turntables, but that doesn't mean food misses out on the even-heating benefits of a turntable. The appliance instead comes equipped with a unique microwave antenna that rotates underneath the surface to evenly distribute the microwaves to every part of the oven for thorough, consistent heating with no hot spots. Furthermore, the oven's Inverter Technology supplies true low, medium, and high power levels, delivering, for example, 60-percent power when 60-percent is requested (not a "pulsed" delivery of 100-percent power 60-percent of the time); this creates a "soft" consistent penetration of energy for even cooking throughout--no cold spots or overcooked edges and surfaces to worry about. For defrosting foods even faster than with the auto-defrost function, the microwave's Inverter Turbo Defrost distributes microwave energy in a new and more efficient way, resulting in quicker, more thorough defrosting of foods without cooking. Other highlights include a flat keypad panel with four-digit LCD readout for easy programming, 10 power levels, delay start and timer, nine auto-cook menu options, automatic reheat settings, a keep-warm function, a handy popcorn key for movie night, and a Quick Minute option, as well as a stainless front finish, black screen door, and painted silver wrap for long-lasting good looks. Awarded the Good Housekeeping seal of approval, the microwave oven measures 15-15/16 by 20-3/8 by 11-7/8 inches.

My first microwave lasted for twenty-one years and was actually still working (just big and ugly) when I traded it for a Kenmore. The Kenmore looks nice, worked well, and then died yesterday - - giving it a lifespan of two years. Considering the trouble I have had with my new Kenmore washing machine - that's it. I won't be buying Kenmore products again.

I purchased this microwave for my mother. She is quite disappointed in it because the glass turntable is noisy and it is smaller than I thought it would be. The dimensions are deceiving. Had she not opened it and used it, I would have had her return it. Since she lives in another state, that is impossible. She's 90 years old so I guess it will have to do until I can afford to purchase another.

With a 7/10-cubic-foot capacity, this compact microwave oven allows for quick and convenient meal preparation. The unit's one-touch auto-cook menu takes the guesswork out of cooking popularly microwaved foods including popcorn, baked potatoes, pizza, beverages, and frozen dinners, while its reheat button makes it easy to warm food items back up again. The microwave's soft-touch electronic control panel also comes with cook-by-weight and defrost-by-weight options, speed defrost that alternates between defrost and stand times for efficient results, a start/stop button, and a reset button to clear all previous settings. Choose from 10 power levels for added versatility and control. Other highlights include a removable glass turntable, a handy digital clock and kitchen timer, child safety-lock protection, and an end-of-cycle audio signal, which helps prevent mugs of reheated tea or coffee from being forgotten about. The glass turntable cleans up easily by hand or in the dishwasher, and the interior and exterior of the appliance can be wiped down with a damp cloth as needed. The 700-watt microwave oven measures 15-7/16 by 17-13/16 by 10-5/16 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Sharp R-410LK Carousel 1-2/5-Cubic-Foot Family-Size Microwave Oven, Black Review

Sharp R-410LK Carousel 1-2/5-Cubic-Foot Family-Size Microwave Oven, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our family purchased this microwave oven after much research, and it actually is better than what I thought it would be! The instuction manual is easy to follow and understand, so I began cooking a perfectly baked potato within two minutes after plugging it in. The outer housing design is sleek and unobtrusive, and easy to clean and read. The inside is larger than expected, so I am happy it can defrost large cuts of meat and poultry efficiently. I like the step-by-step l.e.d. instructions that pop up as the food is defrosting or cooking. There's no more outer edges of foods getting too cooked, it is evenly defrosted and/or cooked throughout. The bell that dings is very quiet, as is the motor. The preset functions are very helpful and accurate. For the price, the quality is excellent. Sharp makes this an excellent choice for those families that use a microwave oven daily. We use ours morning, noon, and evening!

Oster OGG61403 1-2/5-Cubic-Feet Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel Review

Oster OGG61403 1-2/5-Cubic-Feet Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

Currently this Amazon page is lacking in some details about this unit, most notably that it is a 1200 WATT unit, not 1100 WATTs like most 1.4 cu.ft. units. So that's pretty sweet, right?
Other specs from other sources:
The Oster digital microwave oven has 1200 watts of total cooking power and 10 variable power levels for customized cooking. The digital microwave oven even comes with a programmable child lock that prevents unsupervised use.
* 10 variable power levels for customized cooking
* 9 convenient cooking functions for easy, one touch cooking
* Programmable child lock prevents unsupervised operation
* 1200 watts
* Model OGG61403
Note that this model does not have a "sensor" feature like some more expensive models have. Nevertheless, this is actually a slight better-than-normal feature-set for this price range/class (sub-$100) of microwave. What impresses me is the extra wattage, and that I like the idea of having a handle. Many times people complain that they get units with those big buttons that you have to press to open the door, but don't work well. Our GE could be like that sometimes - the button would stick.
It does bug me a little that there isn't more information about this unit on the web, but maybe that is because it is new-ish? Time will tell. Oster has usually been good for us - reliable and straight-forward appliances at a reasonable price.
