It needs to be mounted very carefully, otherwise the vibrations of the metal housing create the most frightening noise your kitchen ever has experienced. My problem was the automatic fan which should prevent the oven from overheating: it run from the first second and never shut down. Ordered through Amazon, delivered by AJ Madison and manufactured by GE I first had to find out who is actually responsible for warranty and service. Once the GE service appointment was arranged, the technician came two hours too late, did not have insurance with him, did not find out what was wrong, had no spare parts with him and left without doin anything. I still have my microwave with the fan continuously running, consuming electrical power for nothing....

(More customer reviews)This microwave looks good, but as a microwave that cannot generate microwave, it is useless.
I had used several microwave stoves before, some of them around $50, some around $100, but none of them stopped working within 3 yrs--except this expensive one. We called GE customer service, they told me the magnetron tube was broken, and they also told me this happens because, statistically, the failure rate of this magnetron tube is 3-4 percent. I don't need to be a magnetron-tube engineer to understand this rate. As a regular customer, I just know this failure rate is too high to be accepted.
If GE continues to make this kind of products, it will become another GM soon, and they can only depend on the government bailout to survive.

(More customer reviews)Bought microwave 3.5 yrs ago. Recently the Microwave started reseting after running for 2 seconds. The first really annoying part is that you have to reset the time and date to get the microwave to function again (I hate this!!!) You cannot use until time and date are set.
Found out that RF(Radio Frequency) Mag tube inside of microwave is leaking and the RF is reseting the circuit board causing the microwave to reset.
The cost to repair is greater than the amount to buy another one. GE should make a better product.
Purchased the unit for around $200 so you do the math as to how much it cost per year to use. I will not buy another GE Microwave These things should last longer than a few years.

(More customer reviews)After ONE YEAR it's broken. We MAYBE use it one to two minutes per day. I've seen other reviews on Whirlpool as well and it seems the quality of their products is horrid. If you do buy PLEASE get whatever service plan is available to you as it is the one time you may actually be happy you did. Just an absolute piece of junk. Very crappy plastic, cheap sounding door, loud machine that doesn't last. Will NEVER buy Whirlpool again. There are reports all over the internet about how these break down after a year or two - do your homework and look at the customer reviews. We saw reports this was a good microwave - well it was a new model at the time. You could offer me one for free and I wouldn't take it - like the free couches you see on people's lawns - genuine JUNK. It's embarrassing that I can go to my mother's house and they're still using their microwave from 15 years ago w/o problem and here I am replacing mine after a year.

(More customer reviews)Maytag sells this microwave as a replacement for model # MMV1153AA, so I bought it when my old microwave blew up, hoping I could just drop it in. However, the wall mounting bracket is completely different, so is the location of the screw holes on top that holds the microwave oven to the bottom of the kitchen cabinet. It is also 1 1/8 inch taller than the older model, so make sure you will have room for it! Also the power cable has to go through a hole in a different location than model MMV1153AA. None of the holes in your cabinet for model MMV1153AA will work with this model, you will need to drill new holes. Apart from that inconvencience it is a great microwave oven.

(More customer reviews)I got this microwave as a part of my upgraded, brand-new appliances in my new home one year ago. I really liked all the features, the way it cooked, and the sleek look. I used it for basic microwave tasks--reheating, popcorn, defrosting, etc...nothing crazy.
However, after using it for four months, the magnetron fried, rendering the microwave unusable. I went through the proper Whirlpool service channels, and four house calls and one month later, I had a new microwave (the same model). Three more months go by, same thing happens again--the inside of the microwave was completely burned and fried! This time, three house calls and a month later, they had replaced the magnetron and inverter inside the microwave. Just two months after that now, THE MICROWAVE IS DEAD AGAIN!!! MAGNETRON completely DESTROYED AGAIN! It has been such a pain, dealing with all the service visits to my home and the phone calls into Whirlpool.
I have had my electricity/outlets checked by 2 professionals--that is all functioning correctly.
DON'T BUY THIS MICROWAVE!! I'm sure there is one out there that will last longer than 3 months.

Whirlpool Gold Series: GH7208XR 30'' Velos Speedcook Over-the-Range Microwave Oven with True Convection Oven & Steamer Review

(More customer reviews)We bought this model in January of 2009. Since that time it has been broken and unusable for approximately 4 months. The first time around it took four visits including a special trip by the regional repair manager to figure out the "wave guide" was faulty. This lead to a free replacement unit. They hauled the old one away to investigate the problem further. Shortly after this we found out our warranty was sold to another group - Bankers Warranty Group. Looking back, I wonder if this was done intentionally - knowing the huge problems this unit would have. The new unit worked for about a year before it had the problem with the unit powering off then on. It took 4 visits over two months for them to fix that issue. The unit worked for 4 months before showing the F7 error message. This means the Magnetron and Inverter must be replaced. This took 3 more visits. After replacing both parts the microwave still didn't work. They said another circuit board was blown but they had one locally that they could replace it with. They left the microwave in pieces to grab the part. After installing the new part they powered it up again to test it. The same part blew. They used a fiber-optic goose-neck tool to look into the wave guide. The same problem as the first unit. There is a little metal post that protrudes into the wave guide. Eventually the microwave radiation arcs off of this post causing the unit to fail. We have another 2 1/2 years under our extended warranty which is great and all except the wave guide is considered part of the cabinet which is not covered under the warranty. So at this point - Bankers Warranty Group will not pay to repair or replace our unit. We have a $900 kitchen timer hanging in our kitchen. I called Whirlpool to explain my frustration. This was met with the typical lack of care or empathy. They said it is outside of the manufacturers warranty so they can do nothing. I have researched lemon laws to see if it applies. Unless the same part malfunctions 4 times it is not covered. I can't afford to pay for a cabinet two more times. I am so mad I am screaming. Avoid this unit at all costs. When it was working it was the best microwave we ever had. But it is not worth $900 if it only lasts two years intermittently riddled with repairs. I wish I could get enough people together to file a class action lawsuit to force Whirlpool to refund our money. Shame on you Whirlpool!!!

(More customer reviews)We found these reviews before buying our Kitchen Aid Microwave. We decided to go ahead and make the purchase. We couldn't be more pleased. The product is outstanding, despite the negative review entered above. We like the way we simply followed the directions and the installation went perfectly. (The problem the negative reviewer had ... not reading the instructions!) A big plus for us was the softening/melting feature. The stick of butter came out perfectly easy to slice but not so soft that it melted in the dish. We were quite impressed. We now have all appliances but one that are Kitchen Aid and have NEVER been disappointed. They stand behind their products and don't question any issue you might find. We first had a mixer that was a refurbished model. When we found an intermittent problem in the switch, we called, they sent another refurbished one, and arranged a pickup for the other mixer. We knew then, that if they would do this much for a refurbished model we'd try their other products. We followed with a dish washer (great!) and a range (awesome!) (More customer reviews)Purchased this last July, and all was fine until December when the microwave would not turn on. The clock started to count down when I pushed "start." Repaired under warranty in December, and the problem was a "loose wire" because when the service tech opened the front panel, he reseated the wire connections. Worked fine then until June when the same problem happened again. Same service tech was convinced that a new circuit board was needed, but when he installed it, it did not work. He wiggled some wires and it worked again for three weeks. Now that we are ten days beyond the 1-year warranty date, I cannot get Samsung to admit that this model is defective.
Service company tells me that we are not under warranty and are responsible for cost of the parts and labor. Piece of junk. Will not purchase a Samsung product again. However, from reading many online reviews, I would recommend that you consider two ways to deal with this problem.
Option #1: Purchase an inexpensive model with the plan being that the microwave is a disposable appliance that is to be tossed as soon as it inevitably breaks. Being wall-mounted, this is not a simple option.
Option #2: Purchase from a store that offers a 4-year warranty. That way, when the microwave breaks after 6 months, 11 months, and 13 months, you are fully covered. The problem with either approach is the inconvenience of losing a microwave oven.
Lucky for us, we still have a Whirlpool countertop model from 2002 that has worked faithfully. That has allowed us to wait 3-4 days for the service tech to arrive to fix the problem.

(More customer reviews)We were asked to pick out appliances for our new home. I picked this one for three basic reasons. It was the same brand as the stove and fridge I picked out, was black, and went over the stove. I had no other criteria. Microwaves in the past, for us, have never been used for much more than reheating leftovers, microwave pancakes for our son in the morning and maybe a bag of popcorn every now and then.
Had I consciously decided to research more functionality in a microwave, this would have been it!! I cannot believe how awesome this microwave is.
Functions I've used:
* The "Dinner Plate" function is a thing to be awed. Load up a plate of leftovers, pop it in and hit ONE button (Dinner Plate). The microwave's internal sensor automatically adjusts the cook time to ensure the food is heated evenly throughout. WORD OF CAUTION: Do NOT stop the cycle to check the progress, then cancel and hit "Dinner plate" button again. For some reason it will get way too hot!
* The "Soften / Melt" function has been used numerous times already. You're able to select to soften different products (butter/ice cream/cream cheese). I've used it for both butter and ice cream. The butter selection truly softens your butter without having half soft and half melted. The ice cream selection is another thing that awed me. Our freezer was set too high, so our ice cream was like a rock. Put it in the microwave, selected the "Soften/Melt" button, hit "1" for soften, then "2" for ice cream, then key in the number of ounces. The consistency of the ice cream was perfect!!
* We just used the "Steam / Simmer" function last night to steam fresh asparagus for dinner. Again, we were thrilled with the outcome. We put 2 large bunches of fresh asparagus in a glass baking dish, drizzled with olive oil and seasoned with lemon juice, salt and pepper. Hit the "Steam" selection and steamed for about 10 minutes. Again, AMAZING!!
We've only been in our house just under two months and have already gotten so much enjoyment out of this microwave. I give it the highest recommendation and cannot wait to further investigate the other functions this oven has to offer.

Samsung SMH9187W - 1.8 cu. ft. OTR Microwave Review

(More customer reviews)Please be aware - WHEN RUNNING UNIT, MUST HAVE THE CARASEL AND PLATE IN THE MICROWAVE or it won't run properly.
In my 1st attempt to test the unit I received a loud buzzing and a bluefish-orange flicker after 5 seconds (all 4 tests did the same); called customer care (which answered on 3rd ring - no waiting :)), but they never heard of the problem so I bought it back. In the store I insisted they try the replacement and the same happened! The CS rep put the carousel and plate in and no problems - same was true when testing the original unit.
Sounds like many reviewers have stated the unit didn't work out of the box and/or they got a burning smell - how many tested like me without the plate - WHO KNEW!!??
So after all this running around, 5 hrs, I won't hang it and use it fully until tomorrow - WANTED PEOPLE TO HOPEFULLY LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!

(More customer reviews)What really upsets me is that our new Kitchenaid Microwave KHMS2040WSS-0 only lasted 2 months before the magnetron blew up. The previous reviewer's lasted 6 months. Three times as long!
Boy am I sorry I didn't read his review before I bought my own piece of crap. Beautiful on the outside but blew up in my face.
Our previous microwave, a run-of-the mill GE, was still working after 19 years. But nooooo, I had to have a pretty one.
Kitchenaid's Warranty is a huge scam. This lovely piece of do-do has been sitting on my family room floor for the last month. The repair tech showed up, and could not take it off the wall to test it, look inside it, etc. My husband had to help him pull it off the wall and there it sits. The tech, from Domenco, had no parts with him and lots of excuses why it was necessary to perform service calls without repair parts. No amount of phone calls to Kitchenaid or the repair company has motivated them to take any action. Kitchenaid warranty department says they have no proof that a tech ever looked at it. The fact that they SCHEDULED THE APPOINTMENT IN THE FIRST PLACE WITH THEIR PREFERRED SERVICE VENDOR "is not proof." "Ma'am," they say, "We have no proof that a technician ever verified that your microwave is not working." Not only does their microwave not work, neither does the Kitchenaid warranty process. Perhaps that's on purpose. MY word and MY payment on MY credit card means zip, zero. I must be a moron. Why in the world would anyone lie about this? You have to wait a week to get the repair appointment, then the guy shows up 6 hours late, can't fix it and then falls off the face of the earth. You can't make up stories like this.
So now I have a new $550 piece-of-crap coffe table...and an 18 year old functioning microwave in a landfill somewhere.

GE JVM1740DMBB 1.7CF Over-the-Range Microwave 1000W Black Review

(More customer reviews)About 6 months ago, we upgraded from an ancient GE spacemaker - might have been 10 years old. So anything was going to be better. I wanted one that had a revolving turntable to spin the food and I wanted a stronger microwave. This one delivers. But Please - take my advice and don't try all the silly "auto sensor" features. Use manual choices and you can't go wrong. If you are upgrading from a lower watt microwave, be sure to adjust and lower your "usual" cook times. I burned popcorn and Weight Watcher Smart Ones meals at first so I speak from experience. My husband has yet to understand this concept and still burns food!
I have the black color instead of the bisque which I think looks nicer and is relatively easy to keep clean. However, I wish I had stuck with bisque color instead of getting black finish for our stove and dishwasher though because keeping those clean is MUCH MORE DIFFICULT.
I like that there is two optional racks for those holiday family meals when we're heating up multiple large items.

(More customer reviews)Well it took a while to get installed some confusion about the clearance in the instructions about being 10 inches from the back wall but someone with more experiance and presenter of bill for install and we are home free .This unit so far is beautifull and working like a champ.We had to rehang the top cabinet to accomadate the size so do your homework on the clearances and dimensions which i didn't do when i ordered but professional installation was in order and i love the looks.
