I bought my Whirlpool WMC1070XB Microwave at Radio Lab. It was on sale for $99, marked down from the MSRP of $109. It replaced a 19-year-old 600 watt, 0.5 cu. ft. Emerson that had finally stopped heating evenly. My policy on food is: If I can't microwave it, I don't buy it! So, having a good-working microwave is very important to me.
I have been using it twice daily for about a week now and am very pleased. The size is 700 watts and 0.7 cu ft. capacity. The dimensions of the compact WC1070XB are 17 1/2" long X 12 1/2" wide X 10" high.
The control buttons are very sensitive to touch. The buttons are as follows: Popcorn, Potato, Pizza, Beverage, Frozen Entree, Dinner Plate, Fresh Vegetables, Cook, Power Level, Defrost, Add A Minute, #s 0-9, Clock, Timer, Start, and Cancel. The lever to open the door is on the lower right side below the control buttons. When you push it, the door only opens a couple of inches rather than swinging open all the way and then bouncing back if you don't stop it.
There are 10 different cooking levels and the manual offers recommendations for which level to use for which foods. The default setting is 10 if you just use cook, select the time, and push start. The oven has a child lockout feature which can be activated by pushing the cancel button for 3 seconds. This locks the oven and prevents children from playing with it.
The owner's manual is complete and easy to understand. So far this Whirlpool WMC1070XB is everything that can be hoped for in a small, compact, counterop microwave oven. As long as you don't have to cook anything really large, this is an excellent buy.
