We found these reviews before buying our Kitchen Aid Microwave. We decided to go ahead and make the purchase. We couldn't be more pleased. The product is outstanding, despite the negative review entered above. We like the way we simply followed the directions and the installation went perfectly. (The problem the negative reviewer had ... not reading the instructions!) A big plus for us was the softening/melting feature. The stick of butter came out perfectly easy to slice but not so soft that it melted in the dish. We were quite impressed. We now have all appliances but one that are Kitchen Aid and have NEVER been disappointed. They stand behind their products and don't question any issue you might find. We first had a mixer that was a refurbished model. When we found an intermittent problem in the switch, we called, they sent another refurbished one, and arranged a pickup for the other mixer. We knew then, that if they would do this much for a refurbished model we'd try their other products. We followed with a dish washer (great!) and a range (awesome!) I think I'll never own anything other than Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool products. They are terrific!KitchenAid KHMC1857WSS 1.8 cu. ft. 1000 Watt Over-the-Range Microwave - Stainless Steel

Whirlpool : WMH3205XVQ 2.0 cu. ft. Over the Range Microwave - White Review

Our GE microwave had given us some problems since we moved into this new home so we were looking for another model this go round. One of the features my wife wanted was the warm setting which this model has. We are still getting used to the keypad layout but it sure is great having a microwave again. The fan runs whenever you turn it on so this is a little louder but not a big deal (maybe they all do this and we just hadn't noticed). I installed this myself and by following the instructions got it in place the first time without any further adjustments. If you do install yourself, I put some plywood over the stove, and used a combination of a jack and 2x4's and odd pieces of wood to put this in place, using leverage instead of my back. I can see where someone could get hurt during the installation, and since I did it with the help of my wife to balance things at times, it would have been impossible otherwise.
Good features and quality, I would highly recommend this unit at this juncture - about 1 month into ownership.

Frigidaire Gallery : GLMV169HQ Microwave Review

Frigidaire Gallery : GLMV169HQ Microwave
Average Reviews:

When our counter top microwave of over 13 years finally stopped working, we had to look for a new microwave. First off, we needed to find a BISQUE colored microwave and I wanted to try to match our oven. We have a dual fuel oven that happens to be made by Frigidaire but I was open to any Bisque colored Over The Range (OTR) microwave. While looking online, I was surprised to see very few reviews and even fewer places to get the latest model microwave that places like Frigidaire make.
While the pictured microwave here is black, I have learned that you can get white or bisque by asking for the proper model number and having it special ordered. I actually found that Lowes was extremely helpful in this and was able to get my bisque model in only 10 business days from the day they placed the special order. Shipped direct to the store and saved me money on shipping. My cost was reduced further by a matching Home depot coupon of 10% off.
The install was relatively easy. The directions are poor but I located the studs to secure the back bracket with some modifications (I needed to drill another hole to catch the stud). The install I did used the recirculating fan so I did not deal with a vented install. That looked challenging.
As for usage of the microwave, we are very happy with it. The microwave appears more powerfull than our previous one. Then again, our previous one was obviously on its last leg. The senor heating for popcorn worked perfectly (to our surprise). There is nothing too fancy as for buttons and options. The optional rack seems like a waste so we leave it out. The power levels work well once you figure it is different from our old Sharp model.
All in all, I have no complaints. For a basic, solid microwave, this will work well. One thing I did learn was that reviews of GE were overall poor. Samsung seemed to be the best but they don't do bisque. Good luck!

WMC1070XB Microwave Oven Review

WMC1070XB Microwave Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought my Whirlpool WMC1070XB Microwave at Radio Lab. It was on sale for $99, marked down from the MSRP of $109. It replaced a 19-year-old 600 watt, 0.5 cu. ft. Emerson that had finally stopped heating evenly. My policy on food is: If I can't microwave it, I don't buy it! So, having a good-working microwave is very important to me.
I have been using it twice daily for about a week now and am very pleased. The size is 700 watts and 0.7 cu ft. capacity. The dimensions of the compact WC1070XB are 17 1/2" long X 12 1/2" wide X 10" high.
The control buttons are very sensitive to touch. The buttons are as follows: Popcorn, Potato, Pizza, Beverage, Frozen Entree, Dinner Plate, Fresh Vegetables, Cook, Power Level, Defrost, Add A Minute, #s 0-9, Clock, Timer, Start, and Cancel. The lever to open the door is on the lower right side below the control buttons. When you push it, the door only opens a couple of inches rather than swinging open all the way and then bouncing back if you don't stop it.
There are 10 different cooking levels and the manual offers recommendations for which level to use for which foods. The default setting is 10 if you just use cook, select the time, and push start. The oven has a child lockout feature which can be activated by pushing the cancel button for 3 seconds. This locks the oven and prevents children from playing with it.
The owner's manual is complete and easy to understand. So far this Whirlpool WMC1070XB is everything that can be hoped for in a small, compact, counterop microwave oven. As long as you don't have to cook anything really large, this is an excellent buy.

HotSmart Gourmet Plates - InstaHot 30 minute PLUS Review

HotSmart Gourmet Plates - InstaHot 30 minute PLUS

(More customer reviews)
While the first impression of this plate was good but after I washed it, they have hidden flaws. It seems there is an open seam all the way around the bottom of the plate where the heating element is. Well, guess what? Its not sealed so when you wash it, water gets trapped inside. If you don't shake it all out first, and this takes a while, it boils in the microwave and leaks out as some wierd smelling stuff. Its a design flaw, cause that seam should be watertight sealed. Both my plates did the same thing, so I am pretty sure this is not a defect, but a design flaw. They are ok I guess if you shake them out after removing them from the dishwasher, but setting them in a rack does not work. You must shake them out, and this takes a lot of time. I give this product only two stars because this is really a pain! Also it took me two minutes to get them hot instead of one minute, and they only heat the center inner circle of the plate and not the whole plate, so on the whole at best, about half the plate is heated. They are not like those mexican ceramic plates you eat out of at mexican cafes where the whole plate is hot and they to bring it to you with a glove. While being able to hold the plate by the edges is nice, in reality only about half the plate is heated, a smaller center section in the center. That's the dope on these plates guys. I guess you can live with it, but it might of made me look elsewhere for better hot plates.
Update:
After talking to the producers of these plates, I learned that they are working on new plates to be releashed soon I guess. The new plates should fix the problems of water getting inside the plates. From what I was told, the plates have two problems currently sometimes. One is if the seal breaks from overheating, water gets inside when you go to wash it. The second problem is a defect possibly when some plates are made which some of the components inside the plate are too large causing the plate to swell and break the seal. I was assured they are working on these problems and hope to come out with a much better plate soon. Right now, I can still use the plates if I seal the bottom with Gorilla glue, or shake it out well and let it dry. Possibly you could use an air compressor to blow the excess water out, since any excess water trapped inside the bottom of the plate will cause it to not heat probably. I was told I could return the plates, but I have decided to just work around the problems for now. However, I'm not sure the ceramic style mexican plates they heat up and bring to your table at the cafes would not be just as good or better since the whole plate is hot, and a big bigger, oblong. Also they stay hot for a long time. So for now, these plates are not perfect, wait and see when the new one come out.

Emerson Microwave Oven Touch Control Black Review

Emerson Microwave Oven Touch Control Black

Our last microwave was Emerson. Travis wanted something new, so he purchased "Sharp R-216LS Compact Size 0.8 Cu-Foot Microwave, Stainless Steel" (as well as "Nordic Ware 11-Inch Microwave Plate Cover"). The Sharp microwave was broken when it arrived and we were like ok, no more sharp. Returned it (UPS picked up), got a full refund and I went for this one though it didn't really call out to me. But see, this is Emerson, the company that made our old microwave that lasted for about ****3 years**** (till the buttons stopped working), and another reason I decided to get this is that the design reminded me of the microwave they use at the Japanese deli (Diamobu Japanese Deli Grocery 129 East 47th Street New York, NY 10017-2026 (212) 755-7380) and cafe (Cafe Zaiya [...] 18 East 41st Street New York, NY 10017-6395 (212) 779-0600 and one also on the second floor of Kinokuniya Bookstore [...] 1073 Avenue of the Americas New York, NY 10018 (212) 869-1700 but I forget if they even let you warm up your own food coz they have crazy good free table service lol). Well, we actually like the looks of it (this picture here is just not very flattering, I think) and it works great too. hope this review helped. ;)
