(More customer reviews)One compartment has a lid (won't hold liquids) that sits on top of another compartment. You can choose to only use one compartment. My daughter picked it for the design, it works okay. I'm not counting on it to regulate temperature of any food - room temperature items only. A typical lunch in this box would be:
sealed compartment - sandwich
bottom compartment - silicon cupcake liner filled with finger-food veggies, small treat fills rest of compartment.
Fold a napkin to sit on top, keep closed with included fabric band.
