Japanese 2 Pc Rice Bowl Set with Chopsticks Review

Japanese 2 Pc Rice Bowl Set with Chopsticks
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own several sets of both the sushi dishes and the small bowls (also one large bowl that seems to be out of production) with this design. The craftmanship that went into making them is high. The textures and patterns in the glazes are very interesting and unique. While the design is the same on each piece they are done by hand, so each one is a little different. I've also noticed that the glaze color and pattern tends to vary a bit between ones I've ordered at different times, but not so much that it's noticeable unless you're looking for it.
I tend to be careful with them, since they're hard to find, but I've found that they stand up well to the dishwasher and microwave. Each plate or bowl has the exact same shape so they're easy to stack. I imagine if you tried hard enough you could chip them or scratch the glaze, but the large bowl that I use most often has held up beautifully over 6 years. I've broken 2 - one by dropping it on a hard floor and the other during shipping, but besides that no chips or scratches.

Ceramic Travel Coffee Mug - Cottage Country Review

Ceramic Travel Coffee Mug - Cottage Country
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The pluses: This is a beautiful mug, and it's microwave and dishwasher-safe. Unfortunately, however, it just doesn't do what I need: It doesn't keep drinks at desired temperature long. The slide opening lid is not even CLOSE to spill-proof. Also, and this may be just way I'm "built" (though I've never had this problem with anything before), but the mouth opening in the lid is recessed so far that I can't seal my lips around it -- thus liquid leaks out the sides and dribbles out the sides of my mouth.

Smart Planet EC-7 Eco 12-Ounce Double Wall Thermal Coffee Cup Review

Smart Planet EC-7 Eco 12-Ounce Double Wall Thermal Coffee Cup
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Though both products are marketed by the same company, this version is a cheap knockoff of the classy "DCI I Am Not a Paper Cup". Though it initially appears similar, there are easily visible differences. The lid does not have the indentation that makes it more comfortable for your upper lip. On both the Eco Coffee Cups that I received, there are visible defects in the surface. More importantly, this double-walled cup does not have a safety pressure outlet on the bottom, as does "I Am Not a Paper Cup". This would theoretically increase the risk of cracking if you micro-waved contents to a high temperature, as the heated air has no place to expand into. Lid fit is looser than Not a Paper Cup, though I haven't experienced actual leaking. Finally, using a measuring cup, my two cups hold 11 oz., not the advertised 12 oz.
Bottom line: The original item, I Am Not a Paper Cup, is a classy and durable item. It costs a few bucks more. The difference between Eco Cup and the original is clearly an example of "you get what you pay for".

DCI I Am Not a Paper Cup 10-Ounce Porcelain Travel Cup with Lid Review

DCI I Am Not a Paper Cup 10-Ounce Porcelain Travel Cup with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'll start with the questions I'm asked most often when someone discovers that I am a "I am not a paper cup" owner:
- Q: Does the lid fall off?
A: The only time it has fallen off was when I took a sharp turn and the cup fell out of the cup holder which was already filled with odds and ends.
- Q: Does the lid leak around the edges?
A: No, not at all.
- Q: Does it get too hot when filled with a hot beverage?
A: Nope. Not in the slightest. The double chambered wall does the job just fine.
- Q: Does it get flavors "stuck" in it (e.g. coffee)?
A: No they do not. This is why I've long been seeking a porcelain travel mug.
Now I'll address my personal concerns when I first bought it:
- I was afraid the textured surface of the outside would gradually stain with coffee and grime that would rub off my hand, but this has not yet happened. It did take a small purple spot for a while when it got rubbed up against something, but that eventually disappeared.
- There's no air hole in the lid. This confused me to no end. Before my first use, I was constantly looking for a little hole along the lip or on the top because I was sure I had simply not seen it the last 3 times I had looked. The fact is that the lid is flexible enough to allow you to draw liquid from the cup without problem. This also limits the quantity you can take, but not significantly over the average lid of a paper cup.
- There's a rubber plug on the bottom of the cup. I was tempted to pull it out to see if I could find a prize when I realized that the plug is probably there for a reason. I read the packaging and discovered that this plug keeps liquid from entering the chamber of air between the two layers of porcelain.
I've been on a long quest for a quality ceramic mug and this guy hits the mark wonderfully. I've been recommending them to anyone who takes an interest.

Turn your everyday disposable cup into an eco-friendly, reusable mug. DCI's double-walled, thermal porcelain cup is ideal for commuting, sporting events, and the office. The flexible silicone lid helps keep beverages hot or cold for longer and helps prevent messy spills. The two layers of porcelain, which are separated by a hollow cavity, act as a perfect insulator for hot and cold beverages and ensure that you won't burn your fingers. A silicone stopper in the cup's base prevents water from entering the hollow cavity when washing the mug. This porcelain cup is both microwave- and dishwasher-safe, holds approximately 10 ounces, and measures 3-1/2 by six inches.

The Eco Coffee Cup Set/3 Ceramic Cups With Silicone Lids & Sleeves 12oz Review

The Eco Coffee Cup Set/3 Ceramic Cups With Silicone Lids and Sleeves 12oz
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received a set of three as a gift and was very excited, as I've been looking at similar ceramic travel mugs for a while. The mug keeps my tea hot for the 20 minute commute into work and isn't stained easily when I accidentally leave my tea leaves in the bottom for the night.
The downside of this cup is the silicone used in the lid and grip. It smells when it comes in contact with warm/hot liquids and despite a soak in diluted vinegar, retains this odor after a week of washing and use. Both the teal and brown color (sleeve and matching lid) smell of a distinctive "this is some chemical that will taste horrible and totally ruin the enjoyment of your tasty beverage" from ~ 10 inches away when heated. I can't imagine sipping through the lid with this one and this limits the on-the-go aspect. Mine basically transports tea from my home to my work, when I remove the lid and drink from just the cup. Perhaps washing the lid with lemon juice will help as suggested in other similar cup reviews.
My lids seem to fit snugly and the cup has a lip, similar to real coffee cups. Just be sure to take care to pop the lid on all the way and run your finger around the outside to ensure everything is snug. The flexible lid makes it easy to pop one side on and not notice that the other side isn't entirely secure. There's no "snap" sound like plastic lids would give. I don't know if the lid leaks when drinking from it. Even if I am able to get rid of the smell, I'm not sure I trust that it is safe... food grade silicone probably shouldn't smell like this when warm. I might just replace it with a smell-free "Magic lid", basically an airtight lid that looks like a flat round stopped that seals the mug through pressure.
Have not yet opened the lime green cup or microwaved mine.

Eco-Cup, Single-Wall Porcelain Mug Review

Eco-Cup, Single-Wall Porcelain Mug
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I read about I Am Not a Paper Cup last year, but saw all the reviews that indicated it had problem with leaks. I decided to wait. Nine months later I was at one of those quirky eco/gifty/music stores and I found this Eco Cup and the original IANAPC. The Eco Cup is half the price, so I thought I'd give it a try, and if it leaked or got stinky, at least it was only ten bucks. I've used it almost daily for the last couple of months and have had zero issues with. It's microwave and dishwasher safe. It doesn't smell. It doesn't leak. It's a single-wall version, so the silicone grip is essential. Give it a go--you won't be sorry.

Adagio Teas PersonaliTea 24-Ounce Ceramic Teapot with Infuser Basket Review

Adagio Teas PersonaliTea 24-Ounce Ceramic Teapot with Infuser Basket
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I adore this teapot. Before ordering it from Amazon I was afraid that it would be too small for my needs (I love a big mug of tea, and usually two!) but it was more than spacious enough. The teapot itself is very modern looking and a smooth, ceramic white. It looks like it won't hold a lot of tea, but it actually easily holds 3-4+ cups. It comes with a metal filter which is terrific (lots of more expensive pots use plastic, which stains and deteriorates over time, plus who wants plastic-leeched tea?). My filter is still looking great after a couple months of use, with no rust, and it functions beautifully. The pot is easy to clean and looks very stylish. I've seen identical pots in tea stores for $29, so this is truly a terrific value.

Cozy up to a favorite soul-warming brew with help from this 21-ounce personal-size teapot. Sleek, compact, and attractively simple, the elegant pot's glossy ceramic construction ensures excellent heat retention--which means water stays hotter longer for cup after cup of soothing tea. Furthermore, its large stainless-steel infuser basket allows ample room for tea leaves to fully unfurl when brewing spicy, fruity, or savory teas right in the pot. To use, simply fill the basket with loose tea leaves, place it into the water-filled base, and seal with the included ceramic cover, steeping to reach the desired flavor. The pot can also be used to heat plain water for pouring over conventional in-the-mug tea bags, or to fill with coffee, cider, or other beverages to keep close at hand when working or in the evening when curling up with a book. Equipped with a large ergonomic handle and drip-free spout, the handsome pot transports easily from the kitchen to the table or sitting room, and it can go safely in the microwave and dishwasher for quick heating and cleanup. The 21-ounce personal-size teapot measures approximately 6 by 7 by 3-1/2 inches.

Tumbleweed Pottery Original Chicken Cooker Review

Tumbleweed Pottery Original Chicken Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Excellent cooker - wonderful chicken. Put a little cranberry juice in the well, rub the bird down with Konriko Greek seasoning and you're all set. In my oven, a 5# chicken needs about 2 hours at 375.
The only negative is that the bowl developed a hairline crack across the bottom after about 10 uses. To be fair, this was after cooking at a slighty higher temp than the instructions say (they recommend 350). So far, the crack has not seemed to affect performance.
UPDATE, Oct 2007: A year later, the bowl with the hairline crack is still working fine.

Exceptionlab Inc. 10-Ounce Ceramic Cup We are happy to serve you
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use this cup at work and it has delighted everyone who sees it. It passes itself off as a paper cup until you touch it, which is pretty fun, as far as "fun" from a coffee cup can go. It's usable, pleasant to the touch, and easy to clean. And hey, it's fun to spot the very same cup in its original paper format on so many of the various cop shows on television. I am probably not supposed to name these shows directly in a review, but I've found myself pointing to the screen. Me: "See. He has my cup. The very same cup!" Them: "Okay, would you shut up about your cup?" Me: "But it's exactly like my cup!" Them: "WE KNOW." I recommend this product.

The blue and white ceramic cup bears the message "We Are Happy To Serve You," and is microwave friendly and dishwasher safe. Certified lead free and up to standard on California's Proposition 65, the cup measures 3-3/4 inches high by 3-1/4 inches wide and holds 10 ounces. It makes a great novelty gift.
