Ummm.... How does it work? It would be really nice if someone at Silvermark had thought to include INSTRUCTIONS in the packaging.
Through experimentation, scrambled eggs nuked for 2 minutes on high come out very tasty.

First time I used it the coating started peeling off in big sheets leaving what looked like paint chips on the stove. The egg stuck in the cup and had to be soaked to get it clean. Worthless.

Fagor 4-Piece Egg Poacher Set Review

Fagor 4-Piece Egg Poacher Set

A very high quality piece of specialized kitchen equipment. Does a perfect job of poaching. The glass lid lets you moniter the cooking process and it's vented. Has a nice weight and the teflon cups keep the eggs whole.
It's as easy as making a soft-boiled egg.
If I had to do it again I probably would have bought the 6 egg model because now the whole family want's poached eggs.

Silicone Egg Poachers (Set of 6) Review

Silicone Egg Poachers (Set of 6)

These little cups are truly amazing. I coat the inside with a very small spray of non-stick cooking spray and then just crack the egg into the cup. Place them in about 3/4 inch of simmering water, put on the lid, and you will have perfect poached eggs. They slide right out of the cup and look beautiful every time!! I am going to buy more...six aren't enough. They also store beautifully in the fridge and keep the poached egg perfect until you need them.

West Bend 86628 Automatic Egg Cooker Review

West Bend 86628 Automatic Egg Cooker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 86628 works just fine BUT I bought it based on West Bend's advertized wattage rating of 600W--thinking more is better. In actuality the unit is only rated at 350W. West Bend claims they're changing the misinformation on their site today.
My previous Egg Cooker was an Oster and it was OK.
I prefer my new 86628 because: It's all plastic so the egg holder won't discolor as did the Oster. The water measuring cup allows exact measures not like some others where you add water to the base. The egg holder allows you to remove all the eggs at once and imerse in cooling water so you don't have to handle each egg separately. The 'done' signal is LOUD. I like the positive Off/On switch. Others shut off the unit when cooking is finished. In my opinion that kind of temperature sensitive switching is a weakness. Which is what happened to my Oster. Although the water measuring instructions don't make sence to me, ie: more eggs need less water, I followed the instructions for soft boiling 4 and the eggs were perfect. And AMAZON.com is an excellent way to buy merchandise.

Nordic Ware Divided Skillet Omelet Pan & Poacher Review

Nordic Ware Divided Skillet Omelet Pan and Poacher
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The description fails to note a warning contained on the back of the product's label regarding glass/ceramic cooktops; "Use of high or even medium high heat will damage this pan and your stovetop."
The description states, "The pan's heavyweight construction". Actually the pan is made of very thin, lightweight aluminium. This explains how the pan can be damaged by medium high heat I guess.
Yes, I'm aggravated by the omission and false statement. It might show.
I returned mine.

This clever pan from NordicWare allows the cook to prepare omelets and poached eggs in the same pan. The pan's construction allows it to heat evenly for gentle cooking or rapid sautéing, and the durable nonstick coating helps delicate omelets release without sticking. A three-egg poacher insert fits into one side of the divided pan, and the other half can be folded over to form a lid for poaching. A large, easy-to-grip handle is designed to stay cool on the stovetop, and a helper handle provides an even more secure grip. This pan should be washed by hand, but the nonstick coating makes cleanup quick and easy. It may cause damage to ceramic or glass cooktops if it overheats. Nordicware cookware is covered by a 2-year limited warranty.

Nordic Ware Non-stick Egg Poacher Insert for 10 Inch to 12 Inch Skillets
Average Reviews:

If you don't want to spend $30+ to on a specialized pan to poach eggs once in awhile, get this egg poacher insert. For less than $10 you get a versatile pan insert that fits in any 10" skillet, saving you time and money. Be sure you spray the surface with a non-stick spray before dropping in your eggs or the whites will stick. Once the whites stick too often, the pan becomes unusable. But who cares? At these prices, I bought 2!

Norpro 8 Inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set with Removable 4 Egg Poacher Review

Norpro 8 Inch Egg Poacher Skillet Set with Removable 4 Egg Poacher
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This pan reminds me of the somewhat flimsy items you can find in supermarkets -- bright and shiny but not built last. The handle has no heft, and the egg cups and frame seem unlikely to last for long. I suppose that's the best you can get for $30 these days. However, after trying the cute little silicone egg poachers also available at Amazon, I was much happier with the egg-cooking experience using this pan. The eggs cooked evenly and there was no difficulty with water boiling up over the sides of the cups, as is the case with the silcone versions.
Update -- one week later: I pulled one of the egg cups out of the dishwasher and watched the little handle/knob bounce away. The screw holding it had come loose during the wash cycle. Being smaller than the screen at the bottom of my machine, the screw must have disappeared down the drain. So, now I have to make the time to visit the hardware store to see if I can find a replacement. What a nuisance! I'm dropping my rating from 3 down to 2 stars for this.

Nordic Ware Egg Boiler Review

Nordic Ware Egg Boiler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
purchased this item after looking at several reviews, makes hard boiled eggs like a dream, i set my microwave at eight minutes on high, and four eggs at a time are done to perfection. just one word of caution, very hot plastic for several minute after the microwaving is finished, with a significant amount of water remaining in the container that is very hot. The device also doesn't click closed, just fits on the bottom half so you must be careful moving this around, and it is quite easy to spill the hot water all over the place, wouldn't use it around a small child.

The Chefs Toolbox 6-Piece Silicone Egg Poachers Review

The Chefs Toolbox 6-Piece Silicone Egg Poachers
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I don't recommend these as the best silicone egg poachers--the poachpods are far superiod in terms of the end result. It's a great design with flat bottom so it doesn't roll over, and the little handles, but the egg doesn't come out as creamy and there isn't as much room in them as the poachpods so you can't add any ingredients like cheese or an extra large egg without it spilling over. too bad because I loved the design and price.

I bought one at Target on an impulse because I was hungry for an egg mcmuffin but don't trust McDonald's.
I just tried it and liked it so much I ordered two more here for gifts.
It makes two. One egg, one lean piece of Canadian Bacon and one English Muffin with no butter or grease and I think it qualifies as healthy! The best Canadian Bacon for this comes from Costco. Have fun.

Norpro 661 Nonstick Heart Egg Poacher Review

Norpro 661 Nonstick Heart Egg Poacher
Average Reviews:

I am absolutely thrilled with this egg poacher. Was able to get perfectly poached eggs on the second try.
One thing that the directions do not tell you though is that you should put a cover over the pan in order to get the top of the whites to cook. Also, it is not big enough for large eggs. Medium is a correct size (I haven't seen small to try those).
In any case, I made eggs benedict this morning and the eggs were perfectly poached. Yay!

Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher Review

Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have only had this lovely toaster for a brief time, but I am very pleased. It does everything as advertised and it does it well.
I already have a great Black & Decker toaster-broiler that I continue to use. I consider this item in a different class. They have different strengths.
*First Impressions:
It smells like new plastic and chemicals out of the box. Up close it's easy to see that the pretty shell is made of black plastic, but it's not cheap-looking. After thoroughly wiping down the main unit, running the removable pieces through the dishwasher (top-shelf) and running the toast-cycle a few times, the odors went away. I wasn't sure whether the little measuring cup was going to be much use.
*First Cooking Trials:
I made hard boiled eggs. The eggs weren't boiled so much as steamed in the shell, but that's being picky. The eggs came out perfect on the first try. The little measuring cup was very useful as the amounts of water needed for different yolk-hardness were clearly marked on it. The process was almost idiot-proof.
The eggs went from refrigerator to sandwich in around 10 minutes and cleanup took another minute or so, consisting of rinsing the steamer tray and lid and wiping the heating tray with a damp paper towel.
A poached egg sandwich takes about 5 minutes from fridge to plate. It's a simple matter of placing the food on the appropriate tray (with a good bit of oil for the egg or else it will stick), pressing the right buttons and then coming back when you hear the toast pop up. The tray for heating sausage is more than large enough for a Garden Burger veggie patty if that's what you prefer and if you don't mind it soft and steamed. The toaster-slots can fit a wide range of breads, but perhaps not a thick bagel. The toaster has a clever timer so that toast is done at the same time as the egg.
The black plastic shell on the oven turns out to be an excellent heat-shield.
*Cleaning:
The trays can get messy -- in particular, the heating tray ends up with hard water deposits. Everything is easily cleaned with the exception of the steaming tray used for hard-boiling eggs, which has little bits that protrude to catch a sponge or a paper towel. The trays are made of plastic and are already showing scratches after just a few uses, but it's not noticeable from 3 feet away.
*One Annoying Thing:
If you cook something in the sausage tray, you'll find that its juices will drip down onto your egg and pool on the surface of the egg. Keep a bit of paper towel handy to swab the top of the egg before you remove it from the poaching cup.
*Usefulness:
Quickly hard boil eggs for tomorrow's lunch while you prepare for bed. Have it make your breakfast in the time that it takes you to make your morning cup of coffee. Make the kids a quick after-school snack. Make yourself a quick late-night snack. Any time you're in the mood for eggs and want them quickly. And it also makes toast.
*Summary:
I really like my new toy. It has that cool-gadget-chic that makes it fun to use, the black case looks sweet on a kitchen counter. It's easy to clean. When I ordered it on the advice of a friend, I thought that it was about $10 dollars too expensive, but the expense appears to be the consequence of making a high-quality product.
