I agree that it's an oversight not to provide dimensions. How do I know this will fit the space I need it for? It looks exactly like what I want, but I wouldn't buy it without knowing the measurements.

Presto 04830 PowerPop Microwave Multi-Popper Review

Presto 04830 PowerPop Microwave Multi-Popper
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This gadget has really hooked us on popcorn as a snack. We had been getting wonderful microwave popcorn from Yoder Popcorn (on the Web), but it got expensive. Then I noticed that they said that the Presto popper could be used with any of their bulk popcorn -- at much lower cost. What amazed us was how much better their already outstanding popcorn tasted with the Presto! And the ability to make it with the oil of our choice (we like olive oil) or no oil at all is a great bonus. Entering "presto powercup concentrator" in Google turned up a number of sources (including Amazon) for this essential insert -- we ordered ten packs to save on shipping and are sure we will use them in a reasonable time.
The size is great for us -- just about as much as a standard microwave pack per popperful. I do not see it as very feasible for more than four or maybe six people at a time, however.
While the Powercups do add to the cost, it still is cheaper than the microwave packs. Using the Yoder popcorn as an example (since the same popcorn is available either in bulk or microwave packs) and assuming that one gets 3 pops per Powercup (half of what Presto says is feasible) the cost comes out about as follows:
Premium white or yellow popcorn, 3.5 oz = $0.13
Olive oil, 0.5 oz = 0.10
Powercup = 0.08
Amoritization of popper = 0.02
Total = $0.33
By contrast, a 3.5 oz microwave pouch of the same popcorn costs $0.65 in bulk.
Actual final costs will be greater for both due to shipping charges, of course, but these do not favor one over the other.

I really love this microwave. I just replaced my old one (same one, earlier model)because the keypad wasn't working that well and it had a little rust inside. It still worked and I gave it to a friend who also loves it. It's nice and big and easy to clean. I use the sensor reheat function a LOT. It reheats the food without cooking it more and does it quite quickly.

HA SH R-530EK METALLIC BLACK 1 (Sharp R530EK) (MICOVEN R530EK) Review

HA SH R-530EK METALLIC BLACK 1 (Sharp R530EK) (MICOVEN R530EK)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our Sharp Carousel microwave finally died after 18 years of faithful service. Even the light bulb lasted 18 years. It was heavy and reliable; an awesome appliance....Naturally, I planned to replace it with another Carousel. The reviews were not spectacular. Poorly designed touch-pad, plastic latch mechanism, etc. Unfortunately, other manufacturers seemed to be as bad or worse. I needed a microwave and couldn't find anything better, so I ordered a Sharp R-530E (R-530 EKT according to the label). That's the very large, 1200 watt oven in gleaming black with a 16 inch turntable. Now that I've used it for a couple of weeks, I'm ready to offer my appraisal.
The Good:
Good price. Hard to believe how inexpensive these are.
Awesome size. This bad boy can accept your largest dishware and has a substantial glass turntable.
Good power. A large cup of water will be piping-hot in 2 minutes. Re-heating a large casserole dish of leftovers is quick and reasonably even, but is likely to make a mess unless covered.
Unit looks great. The gleaming black is unobtrusive and looks great on our dark granite counter. The digital readout is OK and the clock is easy to set, although it lacks a 12/24 hour choice. Odd since it offers foreign language choices.
The Bad:
Flimsy plastic latch mechanism. My previous unit had plastic latch hooks, but they were substantial. If you barely brush against these, they WILL snap off. Much worse than I expected.
Ridiculous touch-pad. The ON, OFF, and MINUTE PLUS are hard to find and way too small. The pad is cluttered with lots of choices you probably will never use.
A lightweight. Although some electronic components have gotten lighter, the light weight of this unit is perhaps indicative of the overall move to cheaper components. I don't expect it to last.
No turntable disable or 30 second quick heat buttons.
No easy access to change the light bulb. When mine fails, I will rewire it with a LED, assuming I haven't already thrown it away because the cheap plastic latches snapped off.
Bottom line: Looks good, great size, good price, works adequately, but probably won't last. What were they thinking with those cheap plastic latches ready to snap off? Did any of those engineers use that horrible touchpad before they put it into production?

Panasonic 30" Stainless Steel Trim Kit for 2.2 cuft Stainless Steel Microwaves Review

Panasonic 30 Stainless Steel Trim Kit for 2.2 cuft Stainless Steel Microwaves
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The stainless steel trim really sets off the microwave nicely. It looks beautiful but it was expensive. At $159, it cost almost as much as the microwave itself. It's about an inch thick - not just a flat plate but rather has molded slots that give it a deep, rich appearance.
The kit also comes with a base to secure the microwave and ventilation duct work. Those open slots you see at the top and bottom of the trim are to keep the microwave electrical components cool. The duct work is mounted onto the microwave which is then secured to the base then the entire assembly slides into your cabinet. Alternatively, you can install the base in the cabinet before resting the microwave on it. The raised base allows for more breathing room below the microwave and it positions the unit so the oven protrudes just enough from your cabinet to mount flush with the trim. The finshed look is elegant and professional.
This trim works on all 2.2 cu ft Panasonic microwaves. We used it on the NN-SD978S which we purchased from Sam's Club for $169.
I took one star off for the price. It would have been 5 stars at $120 or less.
Both the trim and microwave were purchased in July of 2010.

Progressive International Microwaveable Rice/Pasta Cooker Set Review

Progressive International Microwaveable Rice/Pasta Cooker Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love this thing and have used one or more for the past 12 years. I have 4!!
The secret to great rice is enough water but not too much water.
1 cup of rice
then cover with enough water so that when you stick your finger into the water and touch the rice, the water is only up to your first knuckle.
Place in 1200 watt micro for 13 minutes. When timer goes off remove and allow to stand...it's still steaming) For about 5 mins... then open and fluff with fork.
This will make about 3 cups of rice.
FORGET Microwave PASTA... Microwaved pasta doesn't work because pasta NEEDS to move in the water in order to keep it from sticking!
However... steam veggies of all kinds! Steam fish, shrimp, shellfish... (I save one just for this purpose) Chicken too.
Try steaming cut up potatoes in broth with some garlic added then mash for a tasty treat.

I am very disappointed at the poor reliability of this unit. Ours is less than a year old and has failed--now, when attempting to cook, the unit shuts off before the end of the programmed time. Even though the light comes on and the turntable turns, the unit does not heat food. Like others, I purchased this unit based on the recommendation in Consumer Reports; this recommendation didn't pan out. I tried to schedule warranty service and GE is making us wait a week to schedule and their frustrating telephone system does not provide information on where I can take it for service for faster turnaround (and didn't put me in touch with a live representative).
When the microwave oven worked, it worked fine. We replaced a Sharp unit with this one; though this unit has the advantage of a larger capacity, its controls are less intuitive.
Based on poor reliability and poor service, we're certainly not going to buy another GE microwave. We've had good success with GE refrigerators in the past; this is very disappointing. A quick search on the web now reveals that GE microwave ovens are not reliable--many others appear to have similar problems with the magnetrons.
Perhaps this is one reason why GE is looking to sell its appliance business...

I bought the first of this microwave ovens three yers ago. The previous m/w I owned for almost 10 years; that Panasonic oven was the best m/w I have owned. Anyway, Best Buy was running this m/w on special (I can't remember specific price, but it was less than $100.00). We took it home, unpacked it, put the ring with wheels in the indentation on the floor of the m/w & the turntable on top of that. We put in a cup of water & boiled that. We use our m/w every day, several times a day, to reheat food & beverages, cook packaged frozen meals, sometimes pop popcorn. I assume most folks use their m/w's this way. It's just two of us, so I guess our useage would be average. It lasted several months & then just quit. We checeked the circuit breaker & there is also a paper shredder plugged into the same outlet - that was still working. Wouldn't you know! We were reheating our supper plates when that happened! Fortunately for us, my in-laws live in the downstairs apartment & my husband took his plate & zapped it the folks' m/w. I called the customer service number at GE & they sent out a contract service repair guy. He replaced a funny-looking fuse. It was a ivory-colored ceramic tube with two wires exteding out of it, as I recall. The m/w lasted a few months, but still under the mfg warranty period. Called GE again. This time, they told me to "take the m/w back to the store where we bought it & have them give you a new one." We did & Best Buy would not take it back. We called GE cust. svce from Best Buy. Was told then to "just dispose of it." We sent the sales slip to GE & they sent us a certificate (basically an I.O.U.) that when we buy another GE product, we would send that sales slip to GE & finally get a real (cashable) check. We did - it took several months & my perseverence, but we did finally get the money we paid for the first "defective" m/w! Now, the "replacement" has "died". When I purchased this one, I go the extended warranty (about $20.00). We're taking it back to Best Buy tonight.
Bottom line: would I recmmend this m/w to a friend? Probably not, unless they are just looking for something cheap & are willing to purchase the extended warranty. Even so, it is less than $100.00. If you can "live" with knowing this appliance is not going to last "forever", it might be worth the money. If I did not have the extended warranty, I woud not buy this m/w again. I had actually forgotten Ihad purchased the ext warr. I was ready to start looking on the Internet to see if I could find the schematic drawing & the fuse that got replaced in the other m/w. My father-in-law is "Mr. Fix-it" & probably has the working knowledge to find the fuse & put a meter on it to see if it is blown. If that didn't work, I would have gone shopping for another Pansonic m/w. We also have a "cheap back-up" microwave that we can put into service quickly when our main m/w "dies".

Panasonic 27" Stainless Steel Trim Kit for 1.6 cuft Stainless Steel Microwaves Review

Panasonic 27 Stainless Steel Trim Kit for 1.6 cuft Stainless Steel Microwaves
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this trim kit to work with a Panasonic NN-SD797S Prestige 1-3/5-Cubic-Foot 1250-Watt Microwave Oven, Stainless Steel. The installation instructions are not the greatest, but they do give you the minimum amount of information you need to install the oven successfully.
The frame is made from thick metal stock, so it should be durable. I thought the price seemed kind of high, but now that I have seen the trim kit in person, it is good quality and the price seems justified.
Having installed this item with the Panasonic NN-SD797S microwave oven, I would select them both again. [This trim kit is compatible with several other Panasonic microwave ovens - consult panasonic.com for more information.]
The actual dimensions of the face frame are 26 15/16" wide by 16 7/16" tall.
This kit also includes some metal ducting that attaches to the microwave to channel the exhaust up the back of the microwave, across the top and out through the vent channels in the top of the face frame - screws are included. Excepting the microwave itself, I did not need to buy any additional parts, items, hardware or screws to complete the installation of the frame.
Note: The "official" amazon.com product photo is cut off a bit on both sides. The customer photo posted shows the face frame in its entirety. The face frame comes as single, assembled unit including the sides (with the screw holes that secure the frame to the cabinet) and the top and bottom sections that include the grills.

There is a glaring omission in the description for this product. The front is a completely mirrored finish. So if you want to comb your hair or put on makeup while you heat up your breakfast you can. For the rest of us this is completely illogical. Just getting it out of the box, it was covered in fingerprints. The photo shows a dull stainless appearance. They do this because you can't photograph mirrored finishes well. Just a warning before you buy. We're returning this one right away - don't even know how it works, so I can't say. But be aware of this before you buy.

Average Reviews:

We purchased this microwave brand new from a major retailer simply to heat water for tea, heat canned soup, and cook instant oatmeal. We just needed a simple microwave that wouldn't take up a ton of space on the counter. Also, we've always thought of GE as a quality company. Being smaller is the ONLY good thing I can say. After using this microwave for 30 days, give or take, it stopped heating. That's right, 30 DAYS. I didn't even get the "PF" power failure message that other people online have described. It turns on and seems to be working, but it is not heating at all. Spend the money, get a higher end microwave. This one is a piece of junk.

PEB2060SMSS GE PROFILE SERIES Countertop Microwave Oven Stainless Steel Review

PEB2060SMSS GE PROFILE SERIES Countertop Microwave Oven Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Purchased this microwave a little over a year and half ago, after much research, looking for the best. Consumer Guide rated it highest among those rated so I felt it would surely last and be worth the extra money. I was so wrong. One month after we owned it the power source went out and had to be replaced. A bit of a headache but the warranty paid for the parts and labor. A few months later it completely stopped working in the middle of preparing dinner. The warranty again covered the repairs but we had the hassle of taking it to the repair shop and being without a microwave, once again, for several weeks while it was being repaired. Two weeks ago while re-heating food the oven "burst" into flames. Thank God my husband was there and able to reach the plug to disconnect it from the outlet and to smother the flames with a damp towel. The microwave filled the kitchen with noxious smoke and fumes before my husband could get it out of the house. Needless to say, even if the now-expired warranty would cover the repairs we would not bother. Not only is the GE Microwave the worst we've ever owned it's also the most dangerous. I shutter to think what might have happened if I had stepped out of the kitchen while the oven was on. It would have for sure set the house on fire. This thing is truly worthy of the term "a-piece-of-junk." Please save your money and buy something worth owning and that won't put you and your family in danger. That is certainly not a GE Profile Microwave.

With a 9/10-cubic-foot capacity, this microwave oven allows for quick and convenient meal preparation. The unit's one-touch auto-cook menu takes the guesswork out of cooking popularly microwaved foods including popcorn, baked potatoes, pizza, beverages, and frozen dinners, while its reheat button makes it easy to warm food items back up again. The microwave's soft-touch electronic control panel also comes with cook-by-weight and defrost-by-weight options, speed defrost that alternates between defrost and stand times for efficient results, a start/stop button, and a reset button to clear all previous settings. Choose from 10 power levels for added versatility and control. Other highlights include a removable glass turntable, a handy digital clock and kitchen timer, child safety-lock protection, and an end-of-cycle audio signal, which helps prevent mugs of reheated tea or coffee from being forgotten about. The glass turntable cleans up easily by hand or in the dishwasher, and the interior and exterior of the appliance can be wiped down with a damp cloth as needed. The 900-watt microwave oven measures 15-1/2 by 19 by 11-1/16 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
