(More customer reviews)Last week was the first time that I've ever used a pastry bag. I decided to go with this set because it came with everything that I needed to get started.
The Progressive set comes with the following items: 12 tips, white plastic coupler, 10" opaque plastic pastry bag, a Rose Nail & a Plastic Storage Case (clear top). It does not come with instructions, but those are easy to find using an internet search. I watched a couple of videos & was ready to give the pastry bag a whirl.
I didn't have a clue about which pastry tips did what designs, so I experimented with the open star ones & had decent luck. As best I can tell (using another internet search - remember, I'm a beginner), the following tips are included in the set: 2 writing tips, 2 open star tips, 2 closed star tips, 1 ribbon tip, 1 curved fluted ribbon tip, 1 rose petal tip, 1 swirl drop flower tip, 1 french tip & 1 drop flower tip.
For a beginner, this isn't a bad set. My only complaint is that I wish the bag was bigger than 10" because I'm a messy cook, and I was a tad messy in getting my frosting into the bag. However, the 10" bag does a good job, so this shouldn't be a reason to reject the set if this item looks interesting to you.
Clean up is pretty easy. The manufacturer recommends hand washing the items - bag & couplers are plastic. We hand washed the tips too.
Overall, I'm happy with my beginner set, and believe it will serve my needs well into the future.
Recommended. 4 Stars because of the 10" plastic bag, and the fact that the leaf tip should have been in the bag to compliment the rose tip.
